Is it any wonder that Easter comes in Spring, the time when the earth renews itself after the darkness and coldness of winter, when beautiful flowers and plants bloom and wake up growing again. The animals have their babies and people have more energy, most people like spring. Jesus died on the cross and rose again to new life. In world mythology there are a bunch of stories about young gods who die and then rise from death to a new victorious life, but they are obviously just myths. Jesus Christ is a real historical figure, historians and scientist at least admit to a historical Jesus, but they do not say he is the messiah. Just as spring brings new life to the natural world, Jesus chose spring for the time He would bring new life to the spiritual world.

Easter's beautiful flowers bloom to remind us of God's artistic handiwork of nature. God is a creative artistic genius. He gives life and feeds every creature. Jesus' wisdom in preaching sermons and telling parables, his miracles and eventual sacrifice on the cross point to God the Father's wisdom in Psalms, Proverbs, and Song of Solomon. Spring is the time for love. Children like candy, cute little bunny rabbits, Easter egg hunts, singing in church, etc.

There was also Passover, when God sent Moses to free the Hebrew slaves in Egypt. This was celebrated the same time Jesus was crucified and resurrected. Coincidence? I think not! God wanted us to know He freed the Hebrews from physical slavery, and then freed the world from
spiritual slavery to sin through His Son.

Happy Easter! Don't ever forget how much God loves you!

Are you aware that Easter falls in Autumn (Fall) for those of us who live in the bottom half of the world?
