  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sometime when you're sitting around thinking deep thoughts, and you need a break, you might want to give a loosely based on Dan Barker's Easter Challenge a try.

Taking Matthew 28:1-10, Mark 16:1-10, Luke 24:1-12 and John 20:1-18 and using every verse from the above, intermingle them into a single chronological list from the first event to the last.

Some verses can be shown in tandem when they are referring to the same event at the same time.

Wait a minute...is it almost Easter? Already? Wow. I need to pull my head out of the sand; I haven't been paying any attention to the days as they go by. Even though I have a physical calendar up on my wall here in my bedroom. O.O Where is my mind? Lol. I think that is a verse in some song Billie Eilish once sang.

For those who are unfamiliar and may be new to the forums. The OP comes around about once a year to argue and debate their personal pet theory that the traditional view that Jesus was crucified on Friday and rose early Sunday morning is wrong; and they give their own opinion hammering long and hard that Jesus said "three day and three nights" and thus insists on their own way.

They have had this explained to them, easily, two dozen times or more for well over a decade that 1) The Gospels are abundantly clear that Jesus was crucified on the day before the Sabbath (Friday) and rose on the first day of the week (Sunday) and 2) The phrase "three days and three nights" very clearly is not insisting upon three full sundowns--but is intended to draw comparison between Jesus' time in the tomb and Jonah's time in the belly of the fish.

So keep these things in mind before choosing whether or not you want to give yourself a headache. Because no matter what you say, they'll be back again, sure as the sun does rise, to have this exact debate and argument all over again.

To what topic are you referring?

BTW, what do your comments have to do with this current one?
