  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When you come to an understanding of Easter's ancient pre-Christian origins and Jesus' practice in His life and what He taught His disciples, you realize that He wouldn't celebrate Easter. He wouldn't observe a day that is deeply rooted in the worship of pagan gods and goddesses.
The traditional practice of Easter that we know today came not from Jesus' example but from the history of the Roman church's desire to separate itself from Judaism by replacing Passover. This decision misses the point that the Passover is not a Jewish observance but a Holy occasion that points directly to Jesus Christ. It has deep spiritual meaning and Jesus magnified the purpose and future vision of Passover through His observance of the day which is for the benefit of all mankind.
Jesus is the true Passover Lamb. If you really want to do what Jesus did, you will follow His example of Passover followed by the days of Unleavened Bread.
Easter or its celebration is not found in the Bible.
What do bunnies and colored eggs have to do with Jesus' resurrection?
If this celebration (Easter) is so important why didn't Jesus teach His apostles and the early Christian church to observe it?
The books of the NT were written over a span of decades after Jesus' death and resurrection, yet nowhere do we see so much as a hint of any kind of Easter celebration.
What do you think about this man made tradition- Easter?

Well, I celebrate it to remember the resurrection of Jesus and new life. There's probably quite a lot of things that Jesus might have said, but might not have been written down.
Ephesians 1 explains just why His resurrection is so important; God "...raised Him from the dead, and did set Him at His own right hand in heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that which is to come, and did set all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him that fills all in all".

Easter is a pagan holiday and Goddess, Ishtar, that was blended into Christianity to both distance it from Judaism and it's holidays as well as to help convert pagans that knew of or worshipped Ishtar.

Easter actually is not found in the bible as one of God's holidays.

Act_12:4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

This is a bad translation.

Of Chaldee origin (compare [H6453]); the Passover (the meal, the day, the festival or the special sacrifices connected with it)

Pascha does not mean Easter or anything related to it, but means Passover.

Act_12:4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after PASSOVER to bring him forth to the people.
