Has anyone else noticed how vicious this thread has turned? And all to defend or refute the inspired word of God?
The inspired word of God that was declared cursed by men empowered in their mind to do so?

It is a strange thing isn't it. A council of men declare the words of God that empowered their Pope to assume his lofty dictatorial seat over a body of faithful are a thing to be detested ,loathed, cursed, consigned to damnation or destruction, and levied a curse of divine punishment on those that believe in scripture alone.

When it was the words of Christ they claim that gave the church its place in the world. Its leaders their power. And the moral guidance to be disseminated into the world by its clergy.

And yet, believing in scripture alone is a curse. Something to be loathed, detested, damned.

You know what that means of course. And by implication?
Believing in scripture at all is unwarranted. Because if scripture all by itself is anathema then that which is anathema on its own can't be respected in any other realm being what comes into that realm , scripture alone, is already detested.

Thursday, spare me the legalistic mumbo jumbo of the Pharisees'. In the original gospel that Jesus had hoped to reach the Jews with, the gospel that they would be teaching from Jerusalem today, the individual child of God has a personal relationship with God the Father, not an institutional middle man. While I respect the church for what it is, setting aside it's horrible behavior over the centuries, outweighed with the immense good it has done, I'm not subject to it's dictates.

You're using what is anathematized in order to defend the church institution that decreed scripture anathema.

Jews followed their church in rejecting Christ, hence the evil of the church.

Jesus went home and poured his spirit out upon all flesh. Thankfully the Catholic church wasn't able to bottle it for sale.

If you claim a book written by human hands is the only authority of God, then your authority ended as the last book of the Bible was written.

I never said there are no other authorities on earth. What I said is that there are no other sources of incontrovertible truth.

God has communicated with many since then, and they have testified that God communicated with them. Accomplished Biblical scholars have found contradictions in the Bible. You may Google "contradictions in the Bible," if in your ignorance you do not believe. God does not lie or contradict himself.

That's why I always say scripture is incontrovertibly true. The Bible in its various translations all have a certain degree of "error", otherwise there would only be one translation per language. I am not going to quibble over slight differences in nonspiritual matters. Further I apply ECC theory to the Bible to get the truth. That means read the whole text and the errors get weeded out.

While I believe one may find God's way in the Bible, one cannot be guaranteed salvation by reading the Bible alone. Many read the Bible, few will be saved.

As said MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY TIMES, understanding truth has no bearing on the truths written. A completely separate debate.

Sola Scriptura is not the Word of God, it's a man-made doctrine. They didn't declare Scripture anathema, they declared the man-made doctrine that you need nothing but Scripture to be anathema. If you want to attack them for that, that's one thing, but what you're doing is lying.

I did read the verse, I don't think John was saying that the Son literally made everything.

The church was built after Jesus left. As I said he has fostered it but eventually we will need to get back to the Kingdom of Heaven ideal of Jesus.

Jesus did establish a church. It was in Jerusalem, but is no more. Maybe people could learn something from this. Maybe the old Jewish way of a central authority and priestly system was out and Jesus instituted a universal church of believers, headed by himself; a spiritual church, not an earthly bureaucracy of sinful men.
