• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

That's an extreme statement for an agnostic. From what I can tell every religion is based upon some form of hard factual evidence. While some of science is based strictly upon an imaginary thing and speculation about that imaginary thing.

I have never come across any evidence which supports any religion, particularly Christianity with which I am most familiar , having been unfortunate enough to be one as a young person.

Some crazy people rely on religion to make them well or their children well, and refuse medical treatment, some have died as a result. In the case of refusing treatment for your children that should be illegal. Here in the UK I believe they are taken to court if they object to their child being treated medically for a serious condition.

Crazy people don't need to use religion to find quacks with treatments that don't work. All of the people I know that have died all relied upon medical treatments that ended up not curing them. Would I be justified in saying crazy people rely on medicine to make them or their children well and refuse to pray, some have died as a result so in the case of refusing prayer for children that should be made illegal?

And I have never come across any evidence that supports a thing with no width, height or depth yet I was taught that such a thing is the basis of all geometry. Additionally do you think you have in your short time of life have encountered every possible bit of evidence that might possibly exist on every subject?

But surely you shouldn't need religion to help you do that?

I think we need all the help we can get. The Holy Spirit is our "helper", inspiring us to make good decisions in everything.

Not the so called 'spirit filled' Christians I have come across, their lives were a mess.

What factual evidence are you referring to?

The factual evidence that you are utilizing right now.:sunglasses:
I'm not utilizing any factual evidence. I am making a ton of assumptions and proceeding to function based upon on those.

On what device are you communicating your assertions? Computers and the internet are based on scientific FACTS.
Not imagination.

Scientific facts are nice but to even begin to enter into the process of finding a scientific fact one must assume so many things. Science is based upon those assumptions which must be accepted on faith before one can consider anything as being factual evidence.

Yeah well stop using science then, otherwise you are a hypocrite, but I guess! Imaginery stuff is so much more fun.

The spirit doesn't change you overnight. God saves some pretty messed up people, myself included.

Yeah, bad things happen in hospitals. A lot of nasty bacteria live there. But if you fell off a ladder and suffered a compound femoral fracture—with a jagged fragment of your femur protruding out of your thigh—would you stay at home and pray for healing?

I'd go to a hospital, and pray I didn't catch a staff/staph disease. :crossrc:

Why would using science be hypocritical? As for imaginary stuff, are you speaking of the geometric point or perhaps negative numbers? They can both be fun I guess but they are more useful than fun.

I think we agree. Hospitals can be dangerous. But if you need that level of care, there's no alternative.
