I pray everyone is okay.. just hearing all this this morning..

It is still summer. If you live on the West coast (the entire West coast), it may be time to take a random vacation EAST if you can. Or, it may be time to prepare an emergency bag, and prepare a plan for disaster. This isn't fear; it is being realistic. It seems to be crawling up a different fault line above the San Andreas. That, in and of itself, is alarming. Remember there was also a 6.1 earthquakes in the PNW the same day there was the 6.4.

I'm quite safe here toward the east coast.. which is why the delay I'm sure to hear..

But your quite right in that being safe is paramount for those living in California, always better safe than sorry!

Seems you all are in for a long summer...

You think the San Andreas may go off?

Possible. I think the particular fault that is rocking is not done, and weak tremors on a fault build more pressure than they release. LA, San Diego, San Francisco and Vegas can feel the quake, which means at best the energy is dissipating through fault lines we don't know about, and more worrisome that it is not dissipating through faults.

If it is dissipating through lattice ground, then it puts pressure on the adjacent faults.

I don't know what that means.

It means that at least down here in southern cal around Joshua tree the san andreas (sp) will not go off. I and a whole class was shown this by the lady who was the boss of lucy jones at one time. I consider all this the san andreas stuff far mongering, I heard it for fifty years now

With all those fault lines in your state what could possibly go wrong?

locked fault is a fault that is not slipping because frictional resistance on the fault is greater than the shear stress across the fault (it is stuck). Such faults may store strain for extended periods that is eventually released in an earthquake when frictional resistance is overcome.
It can take even as long as 300 years---it will eventually release.
