I understand your point, and you quote a fine scripture, about the cross. It says those who have crucified the flesh in Galatians.

5:24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

I guess by walking in the Spirit, that crucifies the flesh, and that is the best way to pick up our cross,as per the next verse.

5:25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.

Good topic.

Just curious. Wondering if other folks have any sort of routine practice to achieve the dying to self that we're admonished to do.

We die to 'self' when we allow the Lord to rule in our hearts and minds. It is when we surrender fully to His perfect Will for us in our lives, and allow the Lord to live 'through us', instead of doing what pleases us. We live solely and completely for His glory. God bless...

Galations 2:20 "So that it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me." Amen.

once a man told me "do you know when the evil one tempts you, how you can know that its him ?" i said no. he said: "when you just want something very bad very fast, you just need it so bad, it feels, thats when the evil one tempts you."

now at that time i was a bible geek running the streets in an apostate city helping people the lord send to meet me, but that was something amazing, i hadnt thought about that !

I suppose I'm just trying to reconcile what I see as two schools of thought here.

The first being that we ARE dead, ("I am crucified with Christ"), as others have mentioned here. As one poster said, "Done deal".

But the other that I'm talking about here is what Paul mentioned when he said "I die daily" (1 Corinthians 15:31). Also, when Jesus mentioned "denying ourselves, taking up our Cross and following Him."

Hi.I think the contextual thought in 1 Cor,was that Paul faced death all the time.Thieves, stonings etc.Yet,one could argue, that was his cross, and that produced life within,as per 2 Cor 4.And it was his weakness as per 2 Cor 12.

He said these afflictions were prodcuing in him,and eternal weight of glory.

God's word is so deep! Good question though.

I wouldn't argue that this is Paul's cross. I would however totally agree with your understanding of I die daily - it means I face death daily.

Blessings,
Ben
