  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was born there and moved back from '94-'96 when my dad was stationed at Kadena. It's incredibly humid there and there's a pretty vicious rainy season. If you're into WWII history at all, I'd recommend touring some of the battlefields on the island. It's a pretty neat experience. Also, from what I've heard there's been a lot of animosity towards Americans lately due to multiple instances of rape. I vaguely remember seeing the locals protest outside the main gate at Kadena shortly before my family moved back to the states. I was too young to fully understand what was going on then, but I've heard that the hard feelings have only gotten worse.

As for my own duty stations, I've been to multiple bases in Iraq and Kuwait. Kuwait is boring, but safe. The bases in Iraq are fairly diverse. Some are pretty decent, others not so much. Stateside, I report to Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio for reserve duty. It's a pretty good base and I love San Antonio in general. There's a lot to do there. I've also spent a lot of time in the vicinity of Ft. Meade, MD both as an Air Force brat and an Army reservist. It's a decent area.
