By writing the Chronicles of Narnia-- which has magical elements to it-- was C.S. Lewis being a bad Christian? How about Tolkien with his various Middle-Earth books? How about "the Force" in the Star Wars movies-- really just magic dressed up. Should we as Christians shun all these things because they have make-believe magic?

I don't think anyone here is looking for an argument, just some quality dialogue. Why are you running away?

Tolkien was Christian too. Not everyone seems to know that so I had to say it

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound accusatory or anything...

I don't think the Holy Spirit frowns upon my hobbies because I have everything in perspective. God is the true focus of my life, my reason for being; fantasy novels and games have been a source of enjoyment for many years, but that's the thing-- I know they're not real. They're flights of fancy, works of imagination, a little bit of escapist fun... If games and books were to become an obsession or if I were to actually want to learn sorcery because of my exposure to such, then of course they would be bad. As it is though, that's not the case.

Here's a vote for a 1e or OD&D game running here! I'll have to check with my half-orc cleric to see if he's interested!

Yep, it's gotta be OD&D or 1st ed AD&D if it's old-school... I think my vote would probably be for OD&D if I had to choose between the two. A half-orc cleric, eh? Better ask him nicely...
