Dubbed or Subbed

Do you prefer dubbed animes or subbed?

I love Love Hina and fruits basket in dubbed
I prefer cardcaptors in japanese, i can NOT stand the dub at all.

Dubbed. I have watched Yu-Gi-Oh! in Japenese on youtube and it was weird.

Dub...I do enjoy watching the sub for fun, but if I'm actually going to enjoy it and watch it, then Dub. (although I have to admit that the "believe it" from Naruto gets so annoying.... )

I like the dub fruits basket, because yuki's voice is much cuter. Now on cardcaptors, I can't stand any of the dub voices, Sakura is one of the worse, it don't match her character.

dubbed cause the professionals do it so you know that everything's translated correctly. there's too many different versions of the subs.

Oh yeah that's true too, I've watched subbed on english movies (IDK y) And they are so off it isn't even funny.

I don't really care. Even though I know good dubbing is rare for anime (Cowboy Bebop and FMA being among these notable rarities), and that most of English dubbing is rather bland, I want to focus on the whole picture, not just read the dialogue. Part of the usual blandness could be because the common practice for English dub studios is to isolate the actors from each other, whereas the Japanese studios generally have all the actors in the booth together so they can play off each other. That, and the fact that the English pool of anime voice actors is rather small. Overall, I watch dubs if I bought the DVDs and/or the option is there.

I will watch subs if there's no other alternative (like with all the fansubs I need to catch up on). It also depends on other issues as well.

There's only one dub I've found sofar that I have a hard time withstanding - Weiß Kreuz. It's worse than Godzilla movies (which I actually don't mind since those are already campy, but whatever), by several orders of magnitude. The bloopers are just about the only redeeming feature of the English dub for that show. Of course, the original Japanese isn't much better, either.

The issue with the Cardcaptors dub is predictable, since the dub is only paired with the very-butchered version Nelvana put out (as far as I know, anyway). Pioneer released the uncut versions with subtitles-only (this doesn't include the movies, which did have dubs). A short index of changes can be seen here:

That's true, when you have to read it you tend to lose track of what's really going on and you can miss some good stuff. Granted that if you did that long enough you'd catch on but you get what i'm saying
