  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I like to watch my anime subbed most of the time, especially if the anime takes place in Japan. It makes more sense for them to be talking in Japanese than in English. And some of the dubs aren't that good, because of bad voice actors and Japanese words that are pronounced wrong, and cheesy jokes that weren't in there originally.

Sub. Sometimes it's hard to read, but other times it's better because it flows the way it should. Unless it's dubbed with excellent voice actors, I prefer the originals anyway. Tenchi Muyo and Sailor Moon are the exceptions I can think of right now.

Well I've watch a lot of dub, and few sub. But I finally have a DVD that has both versions and the sub makes some moments make more sense. If the dub voices are horrible, then I would prefer the sub. But in some cases I dont mind which one I watch, just as long as its anime. lol

I mostly prefer dub, since I'd rather focus on the picture instead of the words. I don't mind subtitled, since I do watch fansubs pretty regularly, but I opt for convenience. In my experience in watching the dubbed versions of series after having watched the fansubs, most of the time the translation is pretty accurate (we're not living in DiC and Nelvana land, anymore, thankfully); it's just a matter of whether you can tolerate the actors.

I NEVER settle for dub...i prefer the authenticity of subs (also partially because i almost always prefer original things...and i like the sound of the language...its like how i hate westernized food (ie: Canadian Chinese food...uggh...) although that could be because i'm asian...)...and i always hate the sound of the voice actors in dubs with a passion...it makes it sound way too lame and little kiddish
they also tend to change the anime in some way or another (cut scenes, changes in lines/names, etc as Saint_Dragon_God_Osiris said) which i loathe

As long as all of the content stays the same, I would go for dub. I almost always HATE the japanese voice actors for anime. The main reason is that everyone sounds like a girl. Seriously that's why i hate the Naruto anime; voice acting.
That's part of why I prefer subbed. Some characters, like Kurama, Shinji and Kenshin, NEED those female voice actors! They don't sound right with guys doing their voices.

Same here. I like the way Kenshin's voice sounds like in the Japanese version. I like it better than his English dubbed voice. I always watch Rurouni Kenshin subbed.

I prefer sub over dub. I mean, a good dub would be great but subbing brings you so much closer to the original and plus you get to learn some Japanese. :

The only dubs I can occasionally tolerate are Chinese or Cantonese dubs.
I've never heard the dubs, but the Hong Kong subs of One Piece are so crazy..... they're almost legendary in fact. xD
