  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Well, maybe she's a transplant, j/k. Seriously, I don't know where my head was when I said that. Got my accents mixed up. I don't have much exposure to really thick southern/southwestern accents since I live in Central Florida, and most people here have a bland accent.

Well, I'll forgive you this time. ;) I have a friend who was from Tampa (of course now he is stationed in Japan).

But seriously, every place has people with incredibly thick accents. Like Hitokiri Shadow said, Abenobashi has a good example of a Texan accent. Kitsune's voice is nothing like a Texan.

And just so we are all on the same page here (I guess I didn't make myself clear before  ), I am not actually upset that someone said Kitsune had a Texas accent in the dub. I just want to make it clear that it is not. Sorry to keep harping on the subject. :D

I just finished watching the first 2 eps of ROD the TV. One of the characters mentions Harry Potter as one of her favorite book series. I don't recall what she said in the Japanese version (I deleted my fansubs of the series) but I don't think she said anything about Harry Potter.

The voices themselves are pretty good. The Japanese voices are better of course, but they're good for a dub.
R.O.D. The TV is out in America now? Anyway, I don't remember anything about Harry Potter, but I could be wrong. I've only seen the first three or four episodes of it anyway. I would've gotten more of them, but I never got around to it. I thought it still hadn't even been licensed.

That's like in Love Hina, where Kitsune got a Texan accent in the dub. I'd like to see where in Texas the Japanese came from ;) .
That reminds me of an Abenobashi Magical Shopping Arcade episode that came in a magazine and the main characters had Texan accents though they had lived in Japan all their lives, and the girl's father had a French accent. -.-

It's licensed (at least) by the same company that licensed FLCL, and the artwork looks the same. Is it the same creators?

Yep. Gainax produced both Abenobashi and FLCL (and Eva and Kare Kano, for that matter). Which I would assume leads to a large amount of allusions to their other properties, like the Eva references that popped up in FLCL.
