Lot's of things aren't in the Bible. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong with them. Alter calls aren't in the Bible. Anything wrong with alter calls? But all unbiblical.
Lot's of things aren't in the Bible. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong with them.
I don't see how entering into an ecstatic state is contrary to the Scriptures. It does if they are contrary to how scripture says we should behave.
I would like you guys to give your opinion on this. Can this be the work of the holy spirit?
I don't see how entering into an ecstatic state is contrary to the Scriptures.
The human range of experience is broader than one mood. While sobriety of mood may be the norm, I think that having times of extreme joy and happiness are in line, otherwise God would not have made it natural for us.2 Tim. 4:5 "But you, keep your head in all situations,"
1 Peter 4:7 "be of sound judgment and sober spirit"
1 Peter 5:8 "Be alert and of sober mind"
2 Timothy 4:5 "But you, be sober in all things"
1 Peter 1:13 "Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober"
Galatians 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. "
Galatians 5:19-21 "Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God."
1 Thessalonians 5:8 "But since we belong to the day, let us be sober"
1 Corinthians 14:33 "For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people."
Romans 13:13 "Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy."
1 Peter 4:3 "For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.
Titus 1:8 "Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined."
Titus 2:2 "Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance."
Titus 2:6 "Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled."
The human range of experience is broader than one mood. While sobriety of mood may be the norm, I think that having times of extreme joy and happiness are in line, otherwise God would not have made it natural for us.
On those occasions, wonder if others said it was the enemy or lack of self control. In Acts 2:15 "For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day."
Scriptures say they fell - in all directions. Here's some of them -
2Ch 5:14 "So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God."
Rev 1:17 "And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:"
Eze 44:4 "Then brought he me the way of the north gate before the house: and I looked, and, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD: and I fell upon my face."
"They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.” John 18:5-6
This may come as a shock, but God's actions and ways of showing Himself are not limited to the pages of the Bible
Why are we then to look for the fruit of the spirit then in believers?Seriously, I have seen times when it was the Holy Spirit and times when it was just flesh running rampant.
Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others. (1 Corinthians 2:15)
So, why do you beleive that RHB has a true annointing? You believe the Holy Spirit needed a Holy Ghost Bartnder? I think that God does not. Sorry I DISAGREE. God is holy.People allow flesh to take over. I'm sure we've all done that in one way or another...The couple sliding off their chairs - I don't know whether they had control over it or not. The power of hype can cause people to do something like that, and in this case I cannot tell whether that couple is letting flesh take over or the Holy Spirit. However, I don't think it was Satanic.. I know Rodney Howard Browne, and the anointing coming from him is not false. I know many will disagree with me on that, but I will stick with what I know.
I don't see the two as being mutually exclusive... *confused*Why are we then to look for the fruit of the spirit then in believers?
There are saved people who are not spiritual; there are times when a saved person is more spiritual than others....I believe that that is saying that non-saved people do not understand spiritual things. But that does not mean that the spiritual people cannot evaluate the spiritual people.
I believe RHB has a true anointing because I know him by the Spirit. I don't believe the Holy Spirit needs anything; I believe He is sovereign, and He decides what He will do. I agree that God is holy, but I don't think that means he's opposed to fun.ToBeLoved said:So, why do you beleive that RHB has a true annointing? Being drunk in the spirit is a natural normal expression of great happiness. It is simply the body's normal response.Nothing wrong with joy and happiness, but this topic is about the practice of being 'drunk in the spirit' as shown in the video.
It won't be from God if these practices are contrary to how scripture instructs us to behave.

However. The Holy Spirit is God so He will not act in anyway that is contrary to Gods Word.I don't see the two as being mutually exclusive... *confused*

Amen. Brother! It won't be from God if these practices are contrary to how scripture instructs us to behave.

As I said before, God is not limited to the pages of the Bible.where is the Biblical precedent?
The intellect requires proof; the spirit knows by the spirit. It's hard to explain in words....ToBeLoved said:That your spirit thinks it is is not proof but opinion.
