  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I used to be a major drug addict. Drugs are another way the ways of this world will hold us down. The use of drugs as medicine if necessary is fine, Jesus ingested alcohol, because the water was unhealthy. Taking drugs for fun may seem fun, but it hinders your ability to focus on God and what is important in life. Even from a non-religious point of view, my life has been soooo much better since I have left my old self behind.
Also, the euphoria I get from the Holy Spirit is a better feeling than anything I got from drugs. Even if it wasn't sinful, it's just not worth it.

I do not think so. I do not think that is defying treating your body like a temple, either, since there are no harmful effects on your body or mind. Sometimes, it even brings you closer to God. I know, at least for me, that when I smoke marijuana, things that I do not understand are brought to light, and I understand them, it actually strengthens my relationship with Him sometimes.

In my opinion using weed for non medical purposes is a sin. I smoke weed ocasionally... Well maybe more than ocasionally and it's not something I'm proud of. I think if you've never tried it u can't rlly understand what it's like. Before i tried it i never understood how people could claim to use weed for spiritual purposes. I deffinitley now see where they are coming as it deffinitley changes the way u see the world around u when your high on it but I still wouldn't agree with this. When I'm high I sometimes start talking about god and morals and all sorts of religous stuff and at the time my thoughts might make complete sense to me but once it wears off I'll look back and wonder what the hell I was babbling on about. so I just don't agree with how some people claim it can be used in a spiritual way to make you closer with god and what not. I think that altering the way the mind works in any way is a sin. And even if that in itself isn't a sin, being under the influence of anything including weed can lead you to commit sins you otherwise wouldn't. Say your smoking it with a group of people, well some people get real horny when their high and if your not thinking straight... Well obviously that can lead to a sinful situation. And I know that some people will say there is nothing unhealthy about weed but trust me, smoking it will mess with your lungs (especially if your using aluminum foil with it).
I would strongly advise anyone thinking about trying it to do what try can to avoid it. I mean if your gonna do drugs then weed is probably the least harmful but still that isn't a reason to do it. I don't smoke it too often but I would prefer if I never tried it. I know it's not physically addicting but the feeling is so intense that you'll likely want more soon after to experience it again and each time you use it the more you'll need to get high as you begin to build a tolerance.

I listen to a lot of music that is apparently catered towards those who smoke pot. I don't know why it's necessarily like that, nor do I understand why the music is supposedly designed for that. I do listen to a lot of drone and ambient, so I suppose that leads many on drugs to have some bizarre trips. Yet, for me, I only listen to such music in order to practice patience and essentially meditate.
Along with this, the lifestyles I pursue, being rather organic and down-to-earth, often tend to be a breeding ground for those who smoke weed and other drugs. Yet, I still abstain.
I just think any sort of substance that causes you to lose yourself, to kind of have an altered state, should be avoided. The Father created you to be awake, not asleep. I also kind of believe that the US Government has allowed some drugs to slip through to the population in order to keep us distracted... But, I don't really trust them much so I tend to question a lot of things in that regard. I don't know if that's the case, but knowing how distracted we already are, we barely notice the things they're up to as is. So, if we're on drugs, we're that much more incapable of seeing their corrupt ways.

Besides, if you have to ask the question in the first place, doesn't that mean something inside you finds it wrong? Just my two cents.
