  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

On the news tonight it was reported a Sydney teenager died because
of drug overdose.

He went to a dance festival on weekend and played a game in which they
competed to take the most drugs. The reporter also said another girl died
in November last year also due to drug overdose.

About 3000 teenagers died from drug overdose in Australia each year.

Then it came to the news about the relatives of Andrew Chan and Myuran who have been sentenced to death penalty because of
drug trafficking in Indonesia. They were crying and saying how much they wish
the lives of Andrew Chan and Myuran could be spared. Even the Australian Prime minister supported their
cause of asking for clemency. In other words, the PM also wanted Indonesia to cancel their death
penalty. The PM said he is against death penalty.

I doubt a Muslim country will get rid of the death penalty just because
Australia wants them to.

And your point is.......

It's funny. Drugs kill and harm more people each year than cigarettes and guns.
The politicians hurried to control guns and cigarettes, yet they paid little attention to drugs.
I'm pretty sure politicians are the ones who pass into law the illegality of many dangerous drugs. How is that "paying little attention?"

PS by no means am I going "duuude, I wish (drug name) was legal"....I just think that even if your claims are true, the analogy doesn't stand up.
