This is a big issue for me right now!!
I have always been a biiig social drinker (legal drinking age here is 18) I've been going to pubs/clubs/parties since I was about 16 and getting very drunk a lot of the time. I became a Christian in August 04 and continued drinking just the same. In January I realised that it was getting me into a lot of situations I didn't want to be in, so I gave it up for 3 months (that was a lot for me!!) I thought that if I gave up completely for a while I'd be more OK with it and might learn when to stop.
Didn't happen.
Recently I've been feeling very bad about my drinking and I finally faced up to the fact that God doesn't want me being wasted! He guided me to Proverbs 31 through prayer and on New Years Eve I gave up again. So far so good!
But I know it will get a lot harder once all my mates finish their exams at Uni and the nights out start up again..
