  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

AS in Booze-- How many of you drink?

and if Not how long have you not-- or have you ever.

I was out with some friends of mine tonight and I am ALWAYS the DD( by choice) and they think it is weird I do not want to drink..

I just have no need for it, I have not drank in a long long time and do not miss it

How about you?

I don't drink. I think the last time I did, it was a champagne toast at a wedding (so it was a sip).

I have in the past, but when I came back to Christ, I decided to leave that where it belonged.....in the past.

My gut reaction is to avoid alcohol. I don't drink unless a social situation requires that I partake. That said, I don't see anything harmful about alcoholic beverages when imbibed in moderation and/or for ceremonial purposes. While I'm not a tee-totaler, I wouldn't exactly call myself a "drinker".

I'm a teetotaler. I don't drink, don't cook with alcohol, and avoid medicine with alcohol in it. As I see evidence that goes either way in the Bible, as to whether or not it is a sin, I have to err on the side of caution and avoid it all together. Aside from medicine, which I always used liquid cough syrup growing up, I've had probably the equivalent of 8 oz of alcohol in my entire life, about 1/2 of that was by accident. I didn't know there was champagne in my OJ! Since then, I was 22, I haven't touched a drop and don't want to. I'm not offended by others drinking, but won't have it in my house or around my family (when God blesses me with one). Alcohol was never a big presence in my home growing up either. My 4 parents rarely ever drank and even more rare did they drink around my sibs or I.

Working in an electronics lab, I tend to inhale a small amount of ethyl alcohol fumes, but other than that, I don't drink. Specifically, I don't drink more than an ounce per year. I am a Jewish Christian, and I do celebrate Passover/Lord's Supper with my family. This usually means that there is a bottle of Manischewitz on the table. But most of the time, I don't even drink it then.

I don't see anything inherently evil with alcohol, but I don't like to be around people who are drinking. So I usually avoid the parties, work get-togethers, and the like.

When I was very young, maybe 5 or 6, we were out eating steak, and my grandfather was having a beer. Naturally, being a curious kid, I wanted to have a taste of his beer. He thought it would be pretty funny to let me have a taste of it, so he let me.....and man, I just about gagged. That was the most gosh-awful stuff I had ever tasted. I've never touched it since.

I socially drink, now and then. I don't really like it enough to get drunk, so that's not a concern. But I never drink around people who will stumble because of it. This includes conservative Christians, Muslims, and other people who refuse to drink for moral or biological reasons.

i'm still getting used to it. i don't drink enough of it or often enough to really acquire the taste. it's very rare i actually drink anything with alcohol in it. i've never bought a drink and usually mooch off of other people (one brief sip). i think the most alcohol i've ever had was this new year's when i drank about a fourth of a beer because one of my friends didn't want to drink it all. before that i had one glass of wine on christmas and then the last time i had anything was in july.

I'm a part time bartender and a homebrewer, I've been drunk once. Usually limit myself to 2-3 beers if I do drink. My cravings for beer are on par with my cravings for potato chips and Coca Cola, meaning I like the taste, don't like the nutritional value.

Headed to a pool hall right now, probably have a couple while I'm there satisfying my addiction to billiards.

Don't drink. Haven't since my undergrad days. Don't want to. Not a moral issue for me, just don't like how it feels to be even slightly under the influence. I have also seen the results of too much drinking, both physical and mental and that's enough to keep me away from the stuff.

I drink very rarely. The last time I had any alcohol was at Christmas when I had a glass of wine with dinner. The last time I drank a decent amount was in September when I was on a cruise ship sitting on the deck, taking it very easy & enjoying a few Coronas. But that was the extent of it for the most part. Even at dinner on the cruise I had iced tea.
