Hello Everybody
I am a relatively new Christian.
I have heard of the terms "drink of His Spirit" and "quench your thirst on His everlasting Water" and other similar terms.
I understand what these terms mean now because I have 'felt' myself 'drink' from his 'water'. I guess another way to explain it is when you 'feel' His presence near to you. The times I 'feel' Him near to me occur when I am worshiping in my car, worshiping in church, praying in my bedroom in a time of despair, sometimes when I pray in tongues, etc. But it seems God I can't always 'feel' God when I want to. Sometimes I 'feel' Him near to me and sometimes not.
This feeling of 'nearness' I suppose is when he is giving of His Spirit unto us, for our edification. As it says in the Bible, "Man shall not life by bread alone". This suggests we need to life off the Spirit of God.
Now God created us, so he knows when we need some of His Spirit for edification. Eg. He knows when we have enough 'Spiritual food' for a lack of a better term.
Which leads me to believe that those times I am praying or worshiping and I DON"T 'feel' Him edifying me, this may just be because I don't NEED edification at that particular time or perhaps He is teaching me to be patient.
Does the above make sense?
Can I have anyone else's experiences on this topic???
thanks
Oliver
