All of my dreams lately though have been weird like that... just a bunch of random things set in complete random situations.

It's starting to bother me.

Have you been eating cheese before you go to sleep?
Are you reading any slightly surreal books at the moment or watching the twilight zone or something before you go to bed?

Only thing I have been reading lately is The Elegant Universe, and Deception Point by Dan Brown, neither of which ever have anything to do with my dreams.

And usually before I fall asleep, I either watch the news or the NFL network...

I feel that there is a simple answer to my dreams, and my mind is just adding all kinds of weird garbage around it.

What about cheese - that was actually a serious question. Apparently (and from experience) it gives you all sorts of weird dreams.

From the dream you described I would conclude you still love Ella, Nick is, as you say, your best friend, you have a pet cat, you like maths, and you have seen the films 'in the Mouth of Madness' (starring Sam Neill) and Cabaret.

In response to the OP:

I don't think 2nd person would be any different from first person; there are just 2 you's. One would just be You (1) and You (2), and you (You (2)) would be experiencing the dream in first person. I guess this begs the question of how you distinguish You (1) from You (2)....

In response to goat's dream:

It depends on what all those things in your dream mean to you. For example, a car in my dream doesn't mean much to me, but to a mechanic, a car would mean something entirely different.

My dreams are always of adventures, or revolutions that I lead, where all the fighting is matrix style.

The adventure ones either happen at school, broken down theme parks, or train stations. The theme park ones are the most interesting because those typically are very expansive and have a great deal of "mini-worlds" which are interesting for dreams. I dream of castles occasionally.

In the revolution ones (I swear I'm not making this up) I'm always fighting against the Bible club, whos members are huge, buff Asians.

Eh. I wonder if "response" to prayer is actually God-given or if the process of prayer merely invokes introspective thought that guides people to what they believe are the correct conclusions. Perhaps that's why God told people to pray, so that they could help themselves through trouble.

I'm reminded of something I saw hung in my friend's bathroom, after I had become atheist. I now feel more open about it from when I did then; when I first read it I felt pity, but now I feel sort of happy for them. I'll try to remember it as best I can, it was a poem so I'll just say the basic jist of it:

A man is walking down a beach alongside Jesus. The beach is representative of the man's life. He thanks Jesus for walking with him all that way and helping him. The man turns around and looks down the beach at the two rows of footprints. He notices that at one point of the beach there is only one set of footprints.
The man turns to Jesus and says, "Lord, why are there only one set of footprints there? Did you forget about me and stop walking with me then?"
"No," Jesus replied, "that was when I carried you when you were down."

At first I felt pity. Now, it just makes me smile, and be glad that people have something like that. People need that type of comfort.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

I like that one. I also like the story taken up by the NYS P.T.A. about the man, the children, and the starfish.
