thanks
do you write them all down or just the ones your know are from God?
I write them all down, because I never know if they are from God until I pray about them and begin to ask for an interpretation. For instance, I had one this morning that was really weird and I wondered if I should even write it down, but I did anyway. And, what I thought it meant was completely different than what it actually meant. It was not one for publication. This was a personal message for me from God in answer to something I had been praying about. And, once I began to read my passage of scripture for the day, it became clear what the actual meaning of the dream was.
So, yes, write them all down, because it isn't always that obvious if they are from God or not. Some of the ones, in fact, that in my natural mind I considered "just a weird dream" actually had some of the best messages with them. And, also, there are some dreams I had two years ago that I never understood that God is just now bringing understanding about. Sometimes the timing is just not right for the understanding, because it is something to be revealed in the future.
And, yes, it is so helpful to journal, not only your dreams, but what God says to you each day through your times with him in prayer and in the word, because you can always go back and connect dots, for one, and be encouraged during down times when you can see, on paper, how God has been working in your life. You can see the progression and how you are growing in your faith, because it shows up in your journaling.
So, buy some three ring binders, a lot of notebook paper, some good writing pens and begin writing. I have a whole cupboard full, and I will go back even thirty years sometimes to see what God was doing in my life then or because I remembered something I wrote then and it applies to something I'm going through in the present. Journaling has improved my quiet times with God tremendously!
