So I had a weird dream last night. God has shown me many things through dreams in the past...but it has been quiet sometime since He has spoke to me through a dream. They always make sense, are very clear and are very, very real. No question that God has spoken to me. My dreams usually involve some type of warning to my imeadate family. Like...you shouldn't do this.... or be prepared for that... and everything that has been revealed to me has came to fruition. No lotto number or fudge like that...God has told/shown me things to protcet my family that is all. My husband works in construction with a crew that isn't...umm...safe? And several times I have woke up to draw him a pitcure of some piece of construction equipment I've never seen and told him he needs to make sure that piece is secure...only to find out when he comes home that day it wasn't and it would've caused some serious injury if he hadn't caught it before they started to pour. God has revealed the houses we've moved into, the car accident we were almost it (and because he clearly said GET OVER NOW I hollered at Bryon to get over and avioded a nasty nasty wreck) I can go on and on about things of that nature. It seems to run in our family. My mom and her mom were both this way too.

Now that is out of the way.

I had a dream last night. I was standing in the middle of a strawberry field bending down to pick a piece of fruit and there was a man in the garden with me. I asked him where did this garden come from? Who planted it? I never knew it was here. He said it was planted so that it would be there in the hard times. I was only going to pick one fruit but I didn't cause I hadn't asked for it yet... and he said take three or as many as you need. The strawberries were growing on vine like grapes would, but it was close to the ground. The plants didn't look healthy..they had brown leaves, but the fruit was bright red, large and smelled good...yes smelled. and for some reason or another I noticed the seeds on the berries.

I don't "dream" in codes, so this sorta confuses me. Everything revealed to me has always been straight forward and up front. (so does this mean it's time for a garden and some serious canning?) This one baffels me. Maybe it was just me being normal for once and having a dream about strawberries LOL! Dunno, but I saw this thread here and thought I'd post it.

It might be more literal than you think. I know people who felt a calling to prepare in this way decades ago, knowing that the time wasn't ripe then. Now shortages are getting closer to a reality.

I think of strawberries as luxurious for famine eating... like God blessing His people in wonderful ways even while things around them looked bleak (dry leaves -- the impossibilities of producing such good fruit!)

The seeds are hope for continued provision. Imagine a food shortage, where people had no seeds to plant for next year. Seeds are a such blessing to people who have nothing.

The vine might possible show how plants can make growth happen -- they are not tidy container plants that people control perfectly, but vines that bend and stretch and cling to adapt to their surroundings.

Everything revealed to me has always been straight forward and up front.
That's a good clue. Follow different news stories than you usually do, and notice how this could tie in.

"Rising food and fuel costs have triggered protests in countries around the world. Crude oil jumped as high as $112.21 a barrel today as a Department of Energy report showed petroleum inventories unexpectedly fell last week. Corn rose to a record $6.16 a bushel as stockpiles dropped more than anticipated"

April 9th

Stores like Walmart have just put out their seed packet shipments -- spend a few dollars and if you're wrong, the loss will be minimal.

Something we might want to be concerned about -- most seeds sold are hybrid, which means they won't reproduce well (or at all) the second year. Hybrids are mixes of whatever gets the companies the results of longer growing seasons, pest resistance, brighter color... and the dominant/recessive genes aren't always as they appear the first year (end up with tough corn or tiny tomatoes with reseeding).

Serious -- get a few packets of organic seed, which will probably not be hybrid. The world is changing rapidly.

it's funny that you posted that reply. I am hestitant to mention that I've felt called to prepare for a famine. For about 5 years now... people look at you like you are nuts when you say it. Lately I've felt like God is pulling me to prepare now, not to hesitate any longer. Then I had that dream. heirloom seeds are the non-hybirds for future point of reference sweetie. i want a garden. don't have a space. i've put up posters this year hoping to share crop or rent a space.

thank you for replying! I can see what you are saying very clearly. thanks

I've felt called to prepare for a famine.
I have heard a lot of people mention that God placed preparation on their hearts, but during a time of semi-comfort, I think it was hard for people to know where to start. Looking at the news, though, it seems the time is now to appear crazy and stock up/get situated.

I went nuts on solar lights last year -- put them inside windows so they'd take in light during the day and stay light at night. That way, there's no running for candles during a blackout. And less fear of utility price increases.

i've put up posters this year hoping to share crop or rent a space.
You are ahead of things. I hope someone responds soon! Check Craiglist too.

That last bit has been my problem of late... dreams in codes when the Lord usually tells me things more directly.

Regardless, you were reaching down to get this fruit which is this dream and you experienced this confusion -- as you do with this dream.

God prepares you and others for times of difficulty. When else does one need such astounding talents as these?

I do not know why the leaves have problems.

Take a look at this dream -- it was about a specific area, and stocking up.

http://christianforums.com/showthread.php?t=7232727

When I think of strawberries, I think about making sure I hit the season on time -- it is so short. Maybe the symbolism shows timing. Strawberries in the Northeast come in June, but I hear that down south (US) it's April.

Strawberries also carry a sort of community aspect for me, like manna -- they come in full force and every one shares them for a few weeks, and then they're gone. Picking is family entertainment... people grab a friend and go do something productive together. Wholesome fun in a box.

The brown leaves: "Do not over fertilize. Overfertilization will cause excessive vegetative growth, reduce yields; increase losses from frost and foliar disease and result in winter injury."

http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/strawberries/growing.html

I think the dry leaves relate to comfort -- if we pamper ourselves, we will not be ready to endure hardships. Overfeeding makes us groggy, and keeps us from deepening our root systems.

The fruit was still wonderful, even when the plant was visibly in a difficult situation... apparently underfed but still prolific.

Years ago in biology class we learned that flowers produce more seeds when a plant is under stress... there is the need to propagate and continue the species.
