For a few years now, I have been praying to God and asking him to bring my future spouse to me. Each day I have been praying for this.
Recently, I have been asking God to show me my future spouse in my dreams. I request that he show the man I will marry in my dreams: his appearance, his face, his name, his description, and his personality.
I am wondering: is this far-fetched? Is this a request God can deliver? Are there any tips you can give me?
Also, has anyone ever done this before or seen their future spouse in their dreams? I have heard stories about this before, and I love to read them.

Thanks.

Let's just say this is not a request God normally grants. What he may do in dreams is give you clues about the kind of man you should be looking for - or, as the case may be, should hope is looking for you.

In fact, my own experience is that that Dream Lover belongs in the dream world; and is not the one who would be best for you in this waking world of better and worse, sickness and health, richer and poorer.

It's up to God, not you or me, but I think he prefers us to experience all the wonderings and perhaps wanderings we undergo in finding that right person. And, frankly, my own experience is that it's more fun that way!

God is not going to make you marry someone. I'm sure that's not what you're thinking, but if we assume God will show us the right single person, then that's removing an element of choice. You will feel guilty if you change your mind.

I have had this happen a couple times (no, I didn't get married twice), but I don't put complete credence in it. In fact, I think I made eager assumptions that it was relational when God was just directing me toward someone, to pray for them. Maybe so, mbe not.

Dreams are vague for a purpose -- because people have not made their decisions yet. God knows what people are praying for, what people are scheming, who has what another person needs... and He can give you clues. But if and when you see a person described, stay in continual contact with God over this, because there are more important things in life than being right or behaving obediently. It is scriptural to plan wisely.

Other things you can pray for -- that you will both be prepared to deal with each other well when you meet; that God will make him sensitive and caring, and strong in faith; that you will both be patient (lol); that neither of you will act rashly before meeting; that God will give you both ideas for ministries and ventures you can work on together (or complementary).
