Anyone want to take a stab at SPIRITUAL dream interpretation?

A couple of weeks ago, I had a dream in which I was on a ledge, a precipice of a high mountain.

I noticed a large eagle flying towards me, and at first was not sure what to think about this eagle coming in so fast, swooping towards my position.

As the eagle drew near, it hovered and seemed to effortlessly float in air.

It was at this point that I noticed three things:

1) the eagle was around 10 to 12 feet tall,

2) there were a few feathers noticably missing from the wings, and

3) the eagle was very regal... not condescending, but very matter of fact in his position.

I stood in awe at this sight.

Also, something very noticeable was his eyes... they were drawing and were full of wisdom and knowledge.

I only read the word Eagle and this song came to mind, don't know if it means anything or not but posting it just to be safe.

Lord I come to You
Let my heart be changed, renewed
Flowing from the grace
That I’ve found in You
Lord I’ve come to know
The weaknesses I see in me
Will be stripped away
By the power of Your love

~ chorus ~
Hold me close
Let Your love surround me
Bring me near
Draw me to Your side
And as I wait
I’ll rise up like the eagle
And I will soar with You
Your Spirit leads me on
In the power of Your love

Lord unveil my eyes
Let me see You face to face
The knowledge of Your love
As You live in me
Lord renew my mind
As Your will unfolds in my life
In living every day
By the power of Your love

(repeat chorus twice)

And I will soar with You
Your Spirit leads me on
In the power of Your love
(repeat)

It wasn't in a dream. But once during an event that later caused a period of pain (and growth) for me, there was a eagle circling over the area.

Several times during the years that followed, when I felt I could not go on and was ready to give up and walk away from God, I would remember the eagle. I would imagine that it was God, circling above me watching and aware of everthing that was happening to me. And from that drawing strength to go one more minute, one more hour or sometimes even for a whole day.

What a beautiful, beautiful visitation! :holy:

I feel it in my spirit but I can't get my head around it.
Some thoughts to share, (but as I said, there's a connection not quite there yet!)

Missing feathers...whoever he is, (an angel or the Lord Himself?) he has protected you, and is stilll protecting you - in fact there's a "permanence" to his protection, be sure this "eagle" is always with you....and in the course of this work he has suffered loss, hence missing feathers... but even so, it is of no consequence to him, his strength is undiminished - in fact there's enhancement in the wounding.

As I write I'm becoming certain it's the Lord.

:)

Wisdom and knowledge - the eagle is often associated with such, and used in Anglican churches as a lectern for the Bible to be laid upon.
Therefore the eagle traditionally carries wisdom and knowledge.
I've also been told eagles are associated with John the beloved disciple but I don't remember why that is.

That last paragraph - talking of symbols - seems meaningless now. Just human wisdom and symbolism, but the true meaning of your dream is the reality they tried to pin down.
Symbols can be good to draw us into a line of thought away from the obvious, but looking right through them is looking into the real. :)

Hi there,

Thanks for letting me 'practice', I've been taking a dream interpretation workshop DVD with Barbie Breathitt (Breath of the Spirit Ministries) and James Goll's book Dream Language and of course, it will all mean nothing without asking the Holy Spirit.

First by the resources provided;

Eagle : Soaring the Spirit, Prophet of God, keen spiritual vision, waiting on God for direction (Isaiah 40:31)

10: Law, government, restoration, trial, testing, 10 plagues, 10 commandments, wilderness, pastor

12: number of apostles, tribes, judges, apostolic fullness, divine government

Feathers : covering, protection

Mountain : Kingdoms, dignity, permanence

Eyes: Omniscience, knowledge, sight, insight, foresight

(3 things) number 3: holy trinity, complete, fullness, kindness, entirety, Godhead

*********************************

An eagle's loss of feathers doesn't necessarily mean from a battle or weariness, it can be from shedding off the old to make room for new feathers.

***************************

There are areas in your life (high mountain) you have been waiting on the Lord for wisdom and knowledge, He has come to tell you (eagle coming when you are on the ledge - a dangerous place), you will receive new wisdom (shedding) and new knowledge, He won't delay (swooping in so fast), He will be there.

I just love your dream ........ it was amazing!

Thanks again for letting me practice.

What if it was just a dream? Why do people assume that every time they have a dream, there must be some big spiritual message?
Considering we all dream several dreams every single night, even though many of us don't recall them, then I don't think anyone is claiming that every dream is meaningful, though I'm sure many are.

Sometimes we notice that a particular dream is "different" from the usual mish-mash of stuff that happens in our sleeping heads. It stands out somehow and makes us look again.
Then we ask the legitimate question, "Lord, since you are with me even as I sleep, and you know how to speak to me in new and unexpected ways, I'm asking you that if this means "more than meets the eye" You'll help me understand.

Asking another Spirit-filled brother or sister is a valid way to explore that.

Do you ever remember your dreams, Mike? :)

Do you believe God communicates to us through dreams?

I believe that God can communicate to us through dreams, but I'm not so superstitious to be believe that every dream is some great spiritual message and I recongnize that, although God can communicate to us through any means He chooses, dreams are not a normative means of God's communication and even if a dream is a message from God, it it still subject to the authority of God's word.

You may now procede to tell me how I shouldn't be posting here because I'm not a "real charismatic".

lol, no, I agree the majority of dreams are not a great spiritual message. But, I do think God does speak to us through dreams, and those dreams stand out from others.

It's very common here to assume that all dreams are a message from God. There's even an entire forum devoted to that idea.

I was once given an infraction there just for suggesting that somebody's dream might have been just a dream.

Asking another Spirit-filled brother or sister is a valid way to explore that.

Not if their opinion isn't based on God's word, it isn't.

Do you ever remember your dreams, Mike? :)

Yes, I do but I'm not so superstitious as to believe that they're all messages from God. God gave us His word to communicate to us. He does not need to speak to us in dreams.

Now, here comes the part where you quote Joel 2:28/Acts 2:17 out of context and tell me that God does speak to us through dreams.

LOL! You posted that right as I did it! ^_^

Seriously, as I said before - nobody said all dreams are spiritually important did they? We're just exploring pne particular dream here and some of us believe it's good.
What is so scary about that?

Golly, didn't see that coming at all, did I?

I guess by LaodiceanForums' standards, I'm a prophet now.
