Drawing Methods for a Determined Noob

Hi all
I really want to get into drawing and every time i do, i lose interest as i suck, i have an image in my head and i go to draw it and wallah it`s crap, i heard of a method on The Simpsons (lmao) that you can use to do drawing and it involves drawing shapes (i can`t remember its name).
I hoping someone on here could help me by recommending different drawing methods, to help get me started.
