Anyone else playing this RPG...I've been playing for a while enjoying it like the one liners

Alistair "Mostly its the standing around doing nothing that excites me!"

"Did we win, we did, we won?"

"Nothing like a little brush with death to make your really not like ...death"

Morrigan "You're quiet Sten, no doubt thinking of us, together"

Sten "Yes"

Morrigan "what?"

Sten "You will need armour and something to bite down on. How are your teeth?"

Morrigan "My teeth, why my teeth?"

Sten "Berisaud teeth can bite through many things, leather, wood and in time metal, you should know this...I might need to nozzle with you."

Wade the Armourer (having custom made dragon scale armour) "It is garbage, Garbage I tell you!"

Morrigan "Oh so we now threaten members of the Chantry?"

Alistair "No no absolutely not!"

There is soooo much depth to the game, with or without the downloadable content.

Anyone else playing this game?

Dragon Age: Origins is a single player RPG developed by BioWare's Edmonton studio and published by Electronic Arts. Set in the mythical kingdom Ferelden in a period of civil war, the player assumes the role of state warrior, mage or thief who must unite the kingdom to fight against an imminent invasion by demonic forces.

I've played about 3/4 of the way through the campaign but lost my saves with a hard drive. I want to get back into it and finish it but I don't have the time right now. I've restarted many times with new characters to see how they play. Awesome game. I'm playing on PC and play 3rd person movement but usually pull all the way up for battles.

I'm playing all kinds of games and usually don't feel bothered by questionable content, but DA is one of the exceptions. Somehow the fight against demons isn't really serious, as in what tactics the party must employ to beat them. I felt especially disturbed by the sacrifice of the little boy in the castle by his mother. I don't know, but somehow my joy in playing this game went downhill quickly after that. As I've said, I've got a good stomach and I can separate entertainment stuff from reality, but personally this game has crossed my limits. I can't recommend it to other christian gamers, especially to kids.

What platform are you playing on? I'm playing it on PC and tactics are a huge part of each battle, while I've heard the console versions play very differently. On PC the battles play out very much like the "Infinity" games, Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Icewind Dale 1 & 2, and Planescape Torment.

Is the story different as well? If you are referring to Connor, the little boy in the castle who was possessed, in the PC version his mother sacrifices herself for him if you choose to use blood magic to free him.

I bought the ultimate pack which gave me Origins/awakening/and most if not all the downloadable extra missions like Prisoner of the tower (short but worth doing for the stuff you get from it -like retrieving Duncans sword) and having Shale the golem as a party member.

Any choice that involves sacrificing him or another will earn you mega negative karma from at least one character. The proper way to do that part is to go to the Mage Tower (and save them, if you haven't yet) and get some lyrium from them for powering the ritual. You then take it back to Redcliffe and everybody wins.

Dragon Age: Origins was an amazing RPG. I am sad to say that I got it on the XBox. Should've gotten it on the PC. I guess for Dragon Age 2 I will get it on XBox as well in order to continue the story. Of course, DA2 isn't as closely related to DA1 as it could be. So I might get it on the PC.

In Dragon Age 1, I've beaten the game multiple times. First character was a female elf mage who eventually became an Arcane Warrior (and Battle Mage in Awakening). She firmly believed in the Maker, despite the persecution against her people. Second time was a male human noble "2-hander" warrior of questionable morality (though still tenuously "good"). He was a reaver. Current game is a female city elf "tank" warrior who is rebelling against The Man in Denerim.

I also need to finish playing through all the origin stories. I think I have played them all except Dwarf Noble.

Definitely awaiting Dragon Age 2, although I'm a little sad that the character creation isn't as flexible.

I saw DA played on the 360 and the story seemed really good and I so wanted to play it, but I was driven to distraction over how absolutely disgustingly ugly the game is on the 360. I know DA2 is supposed to be much prettier, so I have high hopes to play that one... But I couldn't get past how hideous the game was to look at which is such a shame.

And the part with the child... You can go through without sacraficing him, as was said already. The part with the werewolf... That bummed me out.

IDK, maybe it's just me. I was driven to distraction by how bad they were. Like I said, I know the second one is supposed to be very pretty, but the first... The looks of it totally hit me the wrong way. It reminded me of a bad PC game and I thought it could have been so much nicer.

I was a little disappointed in the werewolves. Seems like every fantasy game in the past 4 years has had stinkin werewolves, vampires, and zombies. Time to think of something new, Mr. Game Designers!

and dragons...dont forget the dragons! And bandits too! ;)
