I do not have any problem to "reconcil" them. Genesis Chapter two begins day number 8. Only people who throw dispensationism out the window are going to have problems with this.
Once you get out of the creationist community, the people who think Genesis 2 is 6,000 years is a very small minority.
I question that it is a small majority. The survays I have seen do not indicate that at all. It is difficult though because so much was destroyed by the flood. We have some natural evidence, but a lot of it is in the written record.
Also, Genesis 2 is also contradicted by the data. There was no sudden creation of animals in their present form then. Most of the mammalian species today have fossils that are identical to modern organisms that are far older than 6,000 years.
There is no contradiction at all. There is plenty of evidence that cultivated plants and domesticated animal were introduced into this section of the world at this point in time. You would have to ignore a lot of evidence to form your biased opinion on this one.
Then there are the DNA studies that trace modern human DNA back 100,000 years or so. That contradicts Genesis 2 being 6,000 years ago.
No problem there. Who did Seth marry? If he married a women from a family that had been around 100,000 years, then the DNA of his children are going to reflect that.
