Hammster,

God knows and understands that we were born with a sin nature.
He just asks for us to detest sin the way He does.
And He asks us to repent when we do sin.
This process makes us more acceptable to Him.
There are Scriptures saying this is tied to salvation.
See the black list, which you hate.

Every time you sin, you aren't

Trying to do your best
Trying to be obedient
Trying to be holy
Trying to be perfect
Trying to follow the Spirit
Trying to co-operate in your sanctification.

I think what people take issue is the implication that a Christian will never ever sin. They'll sin less, which concedes the existing of sins.

It's not the scriptures I have issue with. It's your abuse of them.

So how far does one have to fall away before they aren't saved? How many sins does it take to get to the center of salvation lost?

You seem to be missing the point, so I'll repeat it ...

It's about having the right heart-attitude in repenting of known sins.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

It's about having the right heart-attitude ...
Trying to do your best
Trying to be obedient
Trying to be holy
Trying to be perfect
Trying to co-operate in your sanctification
Trying to follow the Spirit ...
"For as many as are being LED by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God."(Romans 8:14)

This is working out your salvation ... hand-in-hand with the Lord.
Paul was wise enough to do this with fear and trembling.

Col 1:9-11
For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy.

Eph 2:8-10
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

So, works do not save, but they are ordained by God for us, it's the reason why He saved us, so that "we should walk in them," thereby adding to His glory.

I think you're misunderstanding. Works are the outward sign of our salvation, not that we need them for salvation which is what I believe John Zain is trying to promote.

Actually, I think it's you blurring the point. So let's try it this way.

Bob (he's popular around here) is a born again believer. He does all of things you mention. But for whatever reason, he starts to sin a bit more, and repents a bit less. Is there a point where he moves from the saved column to the lost column?

Works are the outward sign, they don't earn anything, but they obviously please God.

Sorry, but reality is not as cut and dried as you insist it must be.
IMO, your mind can only handle black and white ... OSAS or nothing!

Is it okay if the Lord is responsible for some of the answers, or do I have to have them all?
For the difficult ones, please ask Him.

That's the wrong question.

I feel assured of my salvation, because God says it is so.

However, only God knows whether I am deluding myself.

Paul, who espouses the doctrine of assurance, warns us to work out our salvation in fear and trembling. (Phil 2:12)

I think we need to give onto God that knowledge ultimately. I can tell you, from as far as I know, that we are save by grace through faith, that God predestines those whom He saves, that when we have faith in Christ we are assured salvation, that we may go through ups and downs, but like Paul if we maintain our faith until the end, which every saved Christian will do, then yes, then we are saved. So, that includes me.

But maybe I'm an idiot and reading my Bible wrong. Maybe I'm lying to myself. You don't know that, God does.

Salvation cannot be lost. Why do people insist on this line of thought?
We iz stubborn.

Have you gone through the black list in the OP?
Some of these items talk about losing eternal life.

Simple examples off the top of my head:

What happens to the BAC ...

who does not hate his life now?
who does not lose his old sinful life?
who does not follow the Spirit?
who does not put to death the works of the flesh?

Dese and more are in the dreaded black list in the OP.

OP means Original Post, which means post #1, i.e. poste de el numero uno, etc.

So basically, you don't know. And since you don't know, you could very well be lost right now and not even know it.

First, I'm well aware of what "op" means. Condescension is not necessary. Secondly, none of those verses, in context, remotely means one can lose salvation. Your premise is faulty based on, as you admit, your opinion, not on scripture.

Please try to find a Bible ...

If you have succeeded, read one or two of these ...
1 Cor 6:9-10
Gal 5:19-21
Eph 5:3-6
Rev 21:7-8
Rev 22:14-15

If you did, congratulations, you just read about some BACs losing salvation.
E.G. Anyone with even one of these habitual sins is automatically disqualified.

Again, your assumptions and condescention are unnecessary. I am fully aware of the meaning of all those verses, and I now know, you do not and do not care to know.

Good, so you are fully aware that ANY ONE of those habitual sins will send ANYONE to hell.
Excellent, I'm happy for you. God bless.
