Dozens of protesters blockade San Fernando Library, shut down drag queen story event

Videos posted on social media showed a group of about 70 people — some of whom had previously attended similar demonstrations in North Hollywood, Glendale and elsewhere — wearing black-and-white shirts reading, “Leave our kids alone.” They chanted the same slogan through bullhorns while hurling verbal abuse and slurs at the guest reader.

“What was meant to be a celebration of love and inclusion turned into the opposite,” Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, the event’s host, said in a statement Thursday.

“Protesters claimed they want to keep children safe while pounding on walls, shouting obscenities and slurs toward my staff and library staff, and using strollers to blockade moving vehicles. The hypocrisy is astounding,” Horvath said.

[The event] did not proceed because demonstrators “blockaded” entrances — denying entry to both library patrons and drag queen Pickle, the guest reader.

About six to eight protesters refused to leave the entrance even after police issued a dispersal order, according to Pickle. The San Fernando Police Department did not confirm or deny whether such an order had been given.

[After trying both rear and front entrances] Pickle received a text from Horvath’s staff telling her to leave since she was unable to enter the building. After receiving a police escort back to her car, she did so.

“We weren’t able to get to the venue, but we ensured that the performer was not assaulted in any way and that they were able to leave the venue unharmed,” [police Lt.] Aguirre said.

Who are they? What are their names? Are you saying that normal people could not get in?

Did anyone complain or file a complaint?

If a person who is normal and not part of the alphabet soup people, and also does not even have any children yet, wanted to get in the library to study something for themself regardless of any weird incident that was happening at the library at that very moment...

Did those people get angry?
Did those people get attacked?
Do those people have enough conscience about them to understand that an incident was happening at the Library that has to do with peoples kids being exposed to abhorrent behavior that is against anything biblical, so maybe it would be better to try coming back tomorrow?

That's what I'd say. WHat kind of decent person would deny that and complain? Lol! So you can't just off the cuff imply that there's lots of peoples rights to enter the library trampled on. Forgive my bluntness, but that's just dumb.

No one got hurt. The police made sure. Apparently no one was arrested. I give the Police a B+ for being reasonable thinking men. So with no arrests and no one hurt...but no Drag Queen in the Library, it is a Win for the Neighbrohood!! Now I know exactly how I will handle it (when I step forward) if the drag queens invade my little city.

I wasnt even walking with the Lord whenever I had no trouble at all recognizing these being that we live with that they call Fe-Male. Female. They act funny, think funny but they smell good. These are different! Girls are precious and a sacred gift to Man from God. Anyone but a weirdo can see that. There was a time when I called girls, Gods greatest creation, lol. I now know that is not true inasmuch as it is really, Man. Woman was taken out of man so she is needed for completeness, but either way she was taken out of man so has only a portion of Man so they can't be God's greatest creation.. Thats for the bigger portion and afterward comes completeness.

But the weirdo has to go. Don't let him in for anything. To accept the drag queens presence as a drag queen or a queer, is to come into agreement with him. That goes against what my God has said, so he gets banned permanently. To come into even a teeny agreement with him would be to rebel against God and what He has said to not do.

Geez man, what kind of a man dresses up like a woman anyway? Why would he want to? Who taught him that transvestite crap is something to be desired? And now suddenly, the guy just by coincidence wants to get next to children?!! If the man is that weirded out that he dresses up in womens clothes, id he having some sort of medical episode? Is it a Demonic episode? That drag queen needs prayed for.

But if that was happening in the moment, I would at least beat him down to the ground. That is the proper in the moment response for these types of (probably possessed) people. They are evil and the appearance of such an individual is justification to draw a defensive weapon on the guy. The guys dressed like a woman is having a psychotic episode and is dangerous.

It dont take a Rocket Scientist to be able to recognize such people either. But since the guy is not in my face or my childrens and there exists no sudden emergency, I will pray for the drag queen that he may be delivered from his bondage, whatever it is all inclusive of, wether medical or demonic.

Maybe the left on campuses should not have started and perfected that "drown out your opponent so no one can hear him" or "don't even let him enter" tactic; here, it is being used also. The hypocrisy here is pretending this is not a commonly used, effective tactic constantly utilized by the left wing. Here, it is just another venue, but here is about minors, which is more understandable.

If adults on campus don't want to hear a speaker you just don't go; you don't decide other adults cannot hear him either.

PEACEFUL protest is always permitted. We have to decide if we do want to allow all speakers or not. There can't be one standard for one political bent, and another for the opposite - and that's for adults. Here, where children are involved, we have to decide what is acceptable to present and promote to children. Seems we have a way to go on that one.

Yeah, I think that every time it happens to a conservative speaker invited to speak on campus; you see this same hate-filled rhetoric, even - shockingly - at LAW SCHOOLS where these mid-twenties + adults really should know better. The entire life of an attorney is listening respectfully to concepts with which you disagree and refuting them. But we have created ....this, as a society through activism-disguised-as-instruction and this reprehensible tactic needs to cease.
