Downtime on 5/26/10 - Spam Bot Attack

CF was under another spam bot attack which was causing the board to crash again. Fortunately it was not the server, database, or anything on our end to cause the technical difficulties. However this is becoming an issue. Please note that we do have software to try and prevent bots from bringing us down it may have to be ramped up. It does only take one person to create hundreds of bots to attack CF and bring down the board. It doesn't have to be a coordinated effort by lots of people. If anyone knows anything in regards to the bot attacks and would like to remain anonymous please pm. We are working to track down leads and stop this from happening going forward.


I do have one more request from the membership. If you all could please pray for CF, Pauler, and the technical team for wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and prudence to eliminate this problem as it would be much appreciated.

It's not just CF. Several sites in the past couple of days have had ddos attacks on them. Some you might think have a reason behind it, like Brian Krebs' (security analyst and blogger) site, and some seem, to me, random, like Yoono (a twitter/facebook/social media feed tool and browser add-on).
