There will also be some sort of lag. Chinese products at the port of Long Beach or Los Angeles then have to get by truck or rail to Topeka, and then by smaller trucks to individual brick and mortar stores. Some of that stuff is still on the road, but the flow got switched off at the port. And now the ships aren't even leaving China, or are leaving with less. If and when it gets switched back on, the flow won't be felt until the next ship to leave Shanghai gets its contents to Topeka.
