Doubts whether Jesus is real...May Trigger...

I've been going thru these random thoughts that I'm struggling with...It's like I can't grab onto my faith like I'm slowly slipping away... I have these questions whether God is real or Jesus.... And I just seem to have them more and more...Warning may trigger with those who suffer from this type of OCD. Now they don't cause anxiety or fear which is telling me that I'm really thinking about it. I just need a Revelaton from God to awaken my curiousity to know him more...Does this sound like OCD????

do you believe that Julius Cesar existed ?

Would it surprise you to know that there is more evidence to suggest that Christ existed as a human being than Julius Cesar did ? Its true .

dabro, I can sympathize. This is the obsession/fear that really started off my religious obsessions. Before this, I had never doubted God's existence and knew without a doubt (hehe) that he was real. Then my OCD latched onto it and everything I thought I believed went out the window. I had so much fear that Jesus didn't exist. At first it was just a fear of his non-existence, then it morphed into fears of not believing, and even suddenly all of the "doubts" that non-Christians have, suddenly I was having. It is really tough, especially when your faith in Christ is something we should be leaning on while fighting OCD!

Want to know how I got around it? I started saying to myself "Jesus may not be real. For now, I am going to try not to answer that question. But I am going to live my life, worship, and act as if he is real." Besides, isn't that the obedience that Christ calls us to do in the Bible? just because I have FEELINGS of unbelief, doesn't make Jesus unreal, nor does it make me not a Christian. They are just feelings.

Even non-OCD Christians go through periods of doubt. A little doubt is always good because it encourages us to learn more about God and his unchanging character, his promises and his love for us. It call us to have faith and trust in Jesus, and going through periods like this can encourage spritual growth when you come out of it. Coupling this with OCD though and it becomes a nightmare. By the way, I didn't always feel anxiety or urgency when I had those obsessions. Sometimes they were just there, popping up in the middle of church, giving me a hard time. The best thing you can do is ignore them. I know, I know... if only it were that easy. But you gotta learn not to react to the thoughts! If I thought "hmm, maybe I am really a kangaroo," does that make it true? No, I am still a human last time I checked!!

read "the case for Christ " by lee strobel or "the case for faith" both will help you see how very true it all is...

it helped me get past all the wonderings on wether it was really true ... not that i dont struggle with other issues, but not that one anymore...

give it a try... read them.. or get them on audio and listen in the car.... they are amazing

Thanks Keryakos, Sad and PJ. Ya I think this is common. I just never felt this way... But yes it's a time in my life thats being tested and I just have to keep the Faith..Thank you...
