• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have been doubting my salvation for a while, and recently it has been on my mind a lot. I try not to think about it, and my anxiety is under control, but I don't really know how to kill the doubt. I feel like God is working on me giving Him control and hopefully my medication will kick in soon, but do you have any tips to stop doubting it? I've got the anxiety under control, it's just an annoyance and I feel like it is hindering me from trusting God as much as I should be.

I know the feeling brother, it can be terrifying at times. For me, I try to welcome the unpleasant thoughts and let them come without fighting them. I'll just repeat a disturbing thought in my head, for instance: "oh well, I just guess I'm going to hell then!" or "I guess I never had saving faith to begin with". Those are just a few examples. The more I try to convince myself that they aren't true, the worse it gets. I know it's terrifying, you think to yourself "how could I repeat that to myself?" But God understands, and knows that by welcoming the thoughts, you are telling your brain that they aren't threatening. Also, I have been reading the book of Hebrews lately, specifically ch. 8-10. It has helped me a lot when the doubts come and reminds me that we have a great High Priest who is continually interceding for us, The Lord Jesus Christ!

Trust in Jesus as a Person, do not trust only on His atonement and work, trust in His character and love of who He is. During the day spend some time thinking about who God truly is: His holiness, justice, love, mercy, the works of His hands: creation, life, light. Looking to God in Christ will always strengthen faith.

Well said SoldierOfSoul, Amen! My church is currently going through a series on the book of Colossians, we are almost finished chapter 1. Meditating on Christ, specifically his preeminence and attributes, as discussed in Colossians 1, has helped me a lot. I'm praying for you both! You are dearly loved as fellow bondservants of The Lord! Bless you all!
