  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I guess you can say that I've been in a deep spiritual slump. I've just been having doubts about everything in my spiritual life. When I pray, sometimes... well, currently most of the time.. I feel that God doesn't hear me. Often I wonder if God actually takes the time to listen to us or if we've told ourselves that because it seems comforting. It's hard for me to pray or read the word when I'm feeling like this. It's hard to get out of this state of mind sometimes and I was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions. Thanks..

Been said to doubt your doubts! ;) The devil plants doubts; he lies, so why yo listening to him:confused: You must live by faith, not by sight, nor fickle feelings. Read the Psalms...they fullllllllllllllllllll of verses that say God inclines His ear to your prayers! :D Fill your heart and ears with the Truth of Jesus! He fill you with joy, peace, and hope!

Psalm 18:6 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: He heard my voice out of His temple, and my cry came before Him, even into His ears.

Psalm 27:7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

Psalm 28:6 Praise be to the LORD, for He has heard my cry for mercy.

Psalm 31:22 In my alarm I said, "I am cut off from your sight!" Yet You heard my cry for mercy when I called to you for help.

Psalm 34:6 This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; He saved him out of all his troubles.

Psalm 40:1-3 I waited patiently for the LORD; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.

1 Corinthians 1:9
God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

2 Thessalonians 3:3
But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.

2 Timothy 2:13
If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

God will always remain faithful to You. Praise him when youre low and when youre high - it is when we feel that we are in the wilderness that our true faith starts to shine through. Remember how Jesus kept his faithfulness during his 40days and 40nights of temptation.

Never give up.

God Bless, metal.

I've been a Christian almost my whole life and I still struggle with similar feelings. Don't go on feelings, trust that He is near and hears every prayer. Sometimes we drift spiritually because we don't stay in the Word and in prayer, sometimes He takes us to a desert place for His purpose. Stay faithful and patient, He will speak to your heart. God bless you as you wait on Him.:prayer:

I too have dry times spiritually when it seems like my faith falters and God is distant. In such times I remember (or should i say the Spirit reminds me) His word. For example in
2 Timothy 11-13 "If we have died with Him, we will also live with Him; if we endure, we will alson reign with Him' if we deny Him, he also will deny us, if we are faithless, He remains faithful- for he cannot deny Himself."
Philippians 1:6 "And I am sure of this, that He wh began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ."
Philippians 2:13 "for it is God who works in you, both to will and work for his good pleasure."
Romans 8:38,39 "For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come nor powers, nor heights nor depths, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus Our Lord."
It is also good to remember that we are children of God (Ephesians 1:6). Our father delights in His children to give us all blessings (Ephesians 1:3).
So take heart, for our Father, our Lord has his hands around us (John 10:28,29) and we are sealed by the Spirit (Ephesians 1:13). We are safe in Him!

As HumbleBee stated so eloquently in her post. I agree 100%. For encouragement please read Psalms. I read Psalm 121 here is the first verse,1. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. Remember to read all of 121. And that He is with you always. I will be praying for you. P.S. God hears you.And In time you will hear him also.:holy:
