• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Last night my son got into trouble for something that I said he did and now I'm wondering what really happened and was it as bad as I said etc...I am doubting myself and can't even remember clearly what happened. Rationally I think I would never allow him to get into trouble if he didnt deserve it and that I did right thing because despite ocd I know myself but I'm still doubting and having trouble remembering. Anyone else really can't remember something because of ocd?

When I'm obsessive about something, I can't let it off my mind and I can't forget it. Once it's been long enough to let it go, then I'm able to forget about it. Like most things it depends on my memory, how recent something was on my mind.

You shouldn't worry too much, as a parent you can't know for certain everything your child does. If there's a chance he did something wrong, it's important to set him straight. Just let him know what it is you think was done, try to explain why it's wrong and not to do it. Not much else you can do, except teach your child the best you can.

I think those of us with OCD often overthink things, which makes us FEEL like we don't "remember" something accurately. In reality, we remember as much as we need to, but we're overthinking the issue so much that we feel the need to dissect the memory thoroughly, and then get frustrated when we can't remember every single second of it. At least that's my opinion. :)

Oh, now I better understand what you mean. Sometimes I feel lost being doubtful or fearful of something and struggle to find my way. But it's something repetitively happening in my life, just I can't seem to remember enough to stop (least not perfectly, not ideally in my mind). Only thing that helps is accepting I'm not perfect and simply do my best. It's why I'm a Christian, takes the focus off me and put its on God (less self-centered and think less about myself).
