  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've always heard people say. that God anwsers to prayer is either yes'no'and wait. my question Is how do you know when God says no?Is there a time when we should stop praying for certain things?and except the fact that It Is not Gods will?David stop fasting after the death of his child.and paul prayed three times for God to remove his thorn.so It was ovious that after the 3rd time he did not pray that pray again(or did he)cause it said that he only prayed three times about that paticular situation.see were I'am trying to get to.so Is there a time we call It quits and let the grace of God be suffiencient enough?

thanks.

Yes it’s true, God answer with a no, yes, and waits. Years ago God told me to not do something three times and I did not listen. This caused me years of pain. Many times when I pray for certain things I get so discourage when I drop my eyes on the circumstances and then God will encourage me stand my ground. Also if I want to make a big change God said yes go for it. But I also find that when God gave the answer it’s not like something to control me or push me into a direction. It’s more a soft convincing in my spirit. Then the ‘wait’ answers. I discovered that God give the answer when I am emotionally ready to handle it. Like death of a loved one. I remember years ago I begged God ‘why’ but 16 years later when I could handle it God answered me. This happened a few times in my life. But fact is GOD ALWAYS ANSWER, but we may not listen or pay attention.

Sometimes, what we pray for isn't God's will. If you're not getting something, ask God to show you His will, and get ready for a surprise. A lot of people have spent years praying for something, only to eventually find that it's not what God wanted of them.

I believe God does answer with a no when what we want is not what He has for us. My experience is that what I want just doesn't happen. If I pray and put the situation in God's hands, than I just have to wait and see where the situation goes. Kinda like the closed door euphemism. If it is a "no" answer, the doors just seem to close around what I want to happen and it doesn't happen. But if I am paying attention, He will open other doors and lead me in the direction He has for me. And soon the reason for the closed doors make sense or what I wanted just doesn't matter anymore.

I hope this is making sense! It was sorta hard for me to find the right words to explain what I was thinking.

when I was pregnant with my son and he died, I begged God to either let me die too or to bring my child back somehow. I was so desperate. That was 11 years ago. I now have a beautiful daughter named Kristyn and I thank God that he did not "take me" and although I still think of my son I was once pregnant with, I have come to realize that it was not meant to be. You see I got my lesson from my tiny son, he came into me, he taught me how to love with my whole heart and then he left...
Gods will.
God Bless...

Hi, george! I have a brother named George. :) To try to answer your question as to how can we know if God is saying "no" to our prayer...well... We can't always know. He may be saying "no", or He may be saying "wait".

The best thing to do in a situation where you aren't sure is to just ask God for His will to be done in the matter. He knows what is best for us even if we sometimes thinkwe know what would be best. In some situations He may be saying "wait". This is where trust and faith come in. Always trust in God.
