  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Dose any one have this problem?

I woul spend so much time brain storming the story, comming up with character, story, sub-polts, seancs ect. but I spend so much time in my own head working on it that I dont a actully write it down, infact the momet I try put it in words and write it down my brain seems to stop working. When I am brain storming and thinking about it so clear in my mind that I know what I want to bo but the mommet I try to write or type it down I cant seem to do it. Has any ever had this problem and if so how do you get past it?

I don't have that problem, but my Dad often does...he wastes hours plotting, then can't write...um...lemme think...what does he say he does? Um...

I think one thing is he forces himself to WRITE it down as he goes along now...if it's a plot, he forces himself to write it all out, constantly making changes, etc. And if it's character development, I think he does the same...Other than that, I know that he is working on making himself to be disciplined to focus on one thing at a time...don't know if this helps, but it's what I have to say on the subject! ;)

um....what's the problem here? You're just being a writer! I would suggest jotting down ideas as you get them if you want to make sure that you don't lose them (if you don't carry a notebook with you, it's time you started). Otherwise, the fact that it's so hard to write is a sign that the story isn't quite ready to come out yet. So keep brainstorming, make notes, and be patient. If you're anything like most writers this is completely normal

The trick is to write while you're brainstorming. Otherwise good stuff goes down the gurgler. You can always edit later; that's what editing is for. I have bigger problems with the line between reality & fantasy blurring so I actually 'see' things I know perfectly well aren't there. Then I know I've spent way too much time living in my head.

Wait...there's something wrong with that?? 'Cause I could have sworn that there's a scrying pool in the woods right outside. Actually, there's two. One of them seems rather dormant right now, but there's a full moon tonight so we're gonna go check on it at midnight.

I think it's normal--to a point. The best advice I've ever heard is to just write through it.
Well, I live on the border of Faerieland  so of course it's normal to see all manner of strange creatures and stuff in the woods. I'm still holding out for a dragon though....but they don't exactly like populated areas, right? :(

and I have to disagree, to a point. Trying to force out an entire story when it just doesn't want to come is a BAD idea. You end up with a really pathetic story. Taking notes so that you don't forget what it was you wanted to say works much better, and once you let the story develop a bit more in your mind, the story will flow easier on paper. Now of course, if you have a deadline you don't really have a choice

Cute?! Cuddly?! Hm, not where me & my dragon go but then the dragon is Ari's & she's not really a good girl at all, bless her dirty tartan breachan! Mind you it's more fun this way & I'm just grateful I'm not Diarmuid, who has the dealing of with her! & the dragon both

Your dragon must be the wrong size. I have one 'small enough for a child's small hands' badly made & of crystal with some rather dubious habits but he will hang round! Name of Tatsu. Sssh! He's not meant to be here.
oh, I mean a full-size one. I have a small one the size of my forearm in the closet ^_^ Her name is Eyste  But shhhhh....don't tell Kayhin I have her....

How well do you know your Celtic mythology? One of the four ancient things of power is the Dannen harp, which naturally belongs to the earth mother, who is triple aspected, one of whose guises is as the war goddess the Morrigan...do you begin to see where this goes?:sigh: I do end up in cliches - one of the drawbacks of working with a mythological base. Countless reworkings & the nastiness just is.

On the other hand it gives a solid realistic base I'd otherwise be lacking  .

Oh the haunting music, the full moon & the scrying pool are all there; Celtic mythology is full of them. It's how come I ended up there in the first place. The Celts invented the fantasy genre.
Hmm...good point...they definitely did!!!
