I was wondering why Disk Operating System attacks were happening only realised as I was reading that it was Denial of Service. Can you tell I've mucked about with computers for a wee while?

FYI DOS means Denial Of Service such as bombarding a website with a great number of contacts so much so that the servers are overwhelmed thus denying legitimate persons from accessing the site.

Thank you for explaining. I had heard of it before awhile back. Now I remember talk of it happening a few years ago to another forum.

This is a very vindictive and spiteful thing for anyone to do.

In a Denial Of Service attack, a person or program directs a single computer or a group of computers to repeatedly request multiple pages or files from a target website.

Generally so many requests are directed at the target website that the web server gets jammed and normal web traffic is disrupted.

It's actually called a DoS rather than a DOS attack. :D

Anyway, thanks for dealing with it, everyone. I never understood why anyone would do something like that - as it doesn't really mean anything, and certainly does not add anything positive in life (theirs).

 ^_^

They might find it fun or they do it just because they can? Or maybe they had something against the site?

There could be many reasons.
