  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There's currently an ongoing internet debate about whether there are more doors or wheels in the world.

This is actually a difficult question to answer if one doesn't specify which doors and wheels one is talking about. For example, do the wheels on toy cars count? Do the doors on your kitchen cabinets count? Do cars actually have more doors than wheels?

So what do you think...more doors or wheels?

I just did a thorough count of the doors and wheels in my house/garage.

Final count:

Doors. . . 159
Wheels. . 60

FYI I live alone, so I don't have any toys with wheels on them. So your count may vary. I didn't count drawers, or anything else that isn't specifically a door.

So from my count, doors win hands down.

Update: I forgot to count the wheels on the drawers. I'll have to go back and recount.

Recount:

Doors: 161
Wheels: 284

Drawers add up fast.

What about windows? My car has four doors and four handles, but it has six windows. Likewise, my house has many more windows than doors. I'll bet that any high-rise office building has doors that open to rooms which have at least one or more windows.

Wheels? No way. I live in a trailer park. All our homes have wheels, but we still have more windows than wheels. And by the way, I'd like to mention that we trailer park folk are much smarter than you. I mean, if you bought a home which has to stay in one place forever, how shortsighted was that?

Normally a door is a door, coming to a hospital or a big office building,

and asking directions to a certain persons location,

"Yes, straight ahead, third door on the right."

So you try to climb into the box contaning a firehose?

A door is a door,
unless it's ajar.

I don't have wheels on my drawers... Mine are old fashioned and not fancy. I go for doors as the winner.

I think its a stretch calling those bearings "wheels".

You may as well call every valve in your plumbing a "door".

Some drawers have bearings; some have wheels.
I dunno.... maybe.

1.
a circular object that revolves on an axle and is fixed below a vehicle or other object to enable it to move easily over the ground.

Probably more wheels. I used to work in manufacturing. Need a lot of wheels to move products and such. Even rollers are considered wheels as they turn and move belts, cams, cylinders etc.
But think of all the doors on advent calendars!
