what's your thoughts? i really want to play this game cause of the graphics, gameplay, etc.. i've heard are just unreal. But when i went to their site, the loading screen had a pentagost. Meaning the gameplay had pagan or whatever beliefs. Do you think i should get this game eventhough about the gameplay? or just forget about it and wait for a new game to come out with leet graphics and such. Cause i don't want to get God mad cause i want to do something. what's your thoughts?

It's a game... if you played the original Doom, you shot the same type of hellspawn, undead, and demons that the new Doom will have.

I doubt the game will harm your faith in any way. If anything, consider yourself holy for buying a game that encourages the destruction of demons....

The gaem is amazing. I bought it yesterday and it's incredible. The graphics are mindnumbing. So far I'm shooting zombies and some wierd monster that crawls along the walls. Very cool

It's almost exactly the same as Halo and Unreal.

Alright, I'm gonna make a stand against it, and say this: You should only buy the game if you are not very impressionable.

I know that whenever I played the original Doom, I always felt like a deprived zombie. It felt as if my mind was screwy, and I felt disconnected from everything. I was very impressionable at that time, and for that reason, won't touch a game like that again.

But hey, that's just me. I have no qualms with Pokemon. In fact, I'm in the middle of playing it right now.

God would be immature to be upset with someone for playing a game. I'm sure he would forgive you at worst and more probably then not, just not care.
I feel diffrently. The great intellect, god, the creator of the universe what ever you choose to say. I think they would be disapointed that you could find nothing better to do. If you had children and alls they did was play silly games and did not make an attempt to further themselfs so that one day they could be more advanced, wouldent you be a little disapointed. " Is that the best you can come up with?

I for one have a qualm with pokemon. When I tryed to play the other kids got mad, I tryed using my trusty Randy Johnsonmon card and did Superfastball boom. But uhh apparenlty they dident like that and said I was cheating.

He didn't say he was going to do nothing but play Doom 3 all day or anything. Any omniscient God would realize that humans cannot spend all their time working and trying to further themselves. Sometimes you just have to take some time off, relax, and blow stuff up. This helps relieve stress and frustration, allowing for greater gains during the time you spend furthering yourself. I know that when I'm angry at someone I always feel better after blowing virtual stuff up for an hour.

God should support the use of violent video games in moderation. ;)

what helps me relief stress and frustration is praying. I'm a pretty big video game geek, i love the gfx in the game. I have a ATI 9600 and it looks amazing. But i'm againist the pentagrams as icons and such. I got rid of it cause i don't feel a need to play a game driven by demons and such. I'd rather pray and worship God :)

The game immerses you.

It effectively causes you to urinate in your pants.

Given the proper conditions, you will have a heart attack while playing it.

AKA: It is awesome.

P.S.: Pentagrams (and other such "attractive" demonic symbols or items) only bother the superstitious. It's not like I would ever adorn a pentagram, but it's not like I'd be afraid to... touch one.

Be rational, be truthful. It's a game, it's a movie, it's another man's idiocracies. It only has negative effects on you, if you are superstitious enough to let it.

Or if it is as frightening as Doom 3. Then you might experience chest pains.

The mythos is the typical Judaic good/evil dichotomy. Of course, all your dealing with is the evil in this game. Suppposedly, Hell is where you'll end up in order to stop the approaching demonic invasion. Hopefully, it'll have some sort of "scientifical" explanation for the demons. To keep it from being too fantastic a theme.

I got the game and it rocks on my 3.ghz pc with x800 radeon. Ive got everything set on nearly full and its really is mind blowing. Too say its scary is an under statement. The environment reacts to you, the lights know youre there, the demons can feel you!!! Everything in the game is working to kill you. No game can tough this for sheeer horror.
And I wouldnt worry about the game affecting your faith, just pretend your a christian sent into the underworld to fight a holy war for the kingdom of god. But i would never play it in an empty house at night with all the lights off. That would be too much. If you feel bad about it though pray and ask god what he thinks and hopefully he should make it clear to you. I know its hard when youre playing the game but just remember its all ficticious, not one bit of it is real.

Having said that, doom 3 soooooo rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have tried it at a friend's house and I think I will stick with my FS2004 and RTS titles. Sad to say, this game offers little more than every other mind-numbing shooter to grace our hard drives. The game does have nice graphics and there were a few parts that made me jump. However, I fail to see what the hype was about and how it warrants close to $60.00. Perhaps it is because I am the type of gamer that requires innovative game play in addition to pretty graphics if it is to keep my interest.

Perhaps my opinion of it will change once the price drops and something has been dones to fix the 4-player multiplayer modes.

It's just a game. If you can't separate a game from reality, I would suggest that you're the one with the problem, not the game.

I just enjoy running around blowing up zombies and soaking up the amazing eye candy. Is it ever hard though. I can't get back to the comm center.

Doom 3 really fails to break ground in any major new way. The interface is exceptional (the screens with the mouse pointers IN GAME must be seen to be believed) the graphics are amazing, and the gameplay seems bug free. Like most of ID's post Romero games, the execution is flawless, but you can tell that they lacked any gamers. The weapons are the doom 2 weapons. Yeah. That's just a bit dated (ok, they look cooler, but they're the EXACT SAME WEAPONS!). The enemies are also the doom 2 enemies. Faster, nastier, and with a few more abilities, but they still feel like simple scaled pictures in many ways. Compare them to the varied enemies of halflife and you'll discover they come up short. In fact, gameplay wise it is inferior to halflife in almost every way. It's WONDERFUL for a nostalgic walk-in-the-park with a game you thought you'd seen the last of, but I don't really see any ground broken here. Wait for the price to go down, or wait for Halflife 2 (which I have a feeling will be everything Doom isn't). Or just wait for Bloodlines (CURSE YOU VALVE!)

The enemies look great! There are NEW and ADDITIONAL enemies, as well... I'll admit, some of the enemies are the same, but not all. If it aint broke, dont fix it.

Lacked gamers? I remember someone else saying the gameplay disapointing. But the thing you guys keep missing, was that having a complicated control scheme was not ID's goals. The original DOOM was very simple- and ID wanted to stay true to the original (which I respect)

Theres a myriad of other games out there with a billion different buttons to press for dif movements... that are much more complex. Sometimes its good to keep things simple for a change

Also, on another note- a lot of you guys expressed fears about the game being involved in the occult. I can see where you guys can say this from... but to be honest, anyTHING (game, TV show, etc) that does not glorify Christ can be considered pagan.

What worries me more about the occultic symbols in this game, is how our society likes to glorify violence, death, and destruction. For me personally, I love watching action movies (terminator 3 was so cool), and I love playing shooting games.

Is this instinct? Is it because thats just MANLY? Or have I been brainwashed? I think our society's obsession with "action" is more to blame, than just one single game.
