Hi Lithium Hobo,

If there is one thing you want to use to scare people from wanting to go to hell, get them to play Doom 3. :D

LOL!

I've been thinking about getting Doom 3. To be perfectly honest, I disliked the first two Doom games because they seemed pointless, i.e. you start up in some unknown location and where are the other military forces of Earth and the questions keep on coming. The "demons" in Doom 2 are a piece of cake, the ba#!*rds with rocket launchers are a little bit harder though, especially when their rockets home in on you! Good thing their not too fast!

Doom 3 doesn't cost as much here in Australia as I thought that it originally would have, it's only AU$50! Most new games are priced at AU$80 plus, so that has me a little suspicious that the game may not be all that good. I brought Star Wars Republic Commando instead.

Do you think that it's worth buying or is it on the junk list? I've always been more into the Star Wars games myself, speaking of which, I can't wait until the Empire at War comes out (at the end of the year :sigh: ).

I've been waiting for this game to come out for XBox for a while, and it's awesome. Just beat it today. A very satisfying game. I enjoyed the single player more than I enjoyed Halo 2's. Doom 3, however, isn't the kind of game you'd get for the multiplayer.

I bought the collectors edition too because it came with the classics, which I haven't played in ages. You can also play them with a 2-4 player split screen, which is really a lot of fun.

Now I just wish my computer could handle Half Life 2...

Hey Lithium Hobo,

Well Delta, what you hated about the otehr Doom games is exactly what Doom 3 isn't. :) They have a story (a very interesting one) and the demons are not easy, and those demons with the homing rockets are back. :p

Thanks. I still don't know whether or not to get it. Right now, I'm thinking about doing one of three options:

1. Buying Doom 3.
2. Buying Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic: The Sith Lords.
3. Saving my money for a rainy day.

I have KOTOR, and would like to get the sequel to it, even though my computer can't run it at the moment; I'm saving up for a new computer with over 2.2 GHz processor.

The thing that used to scare me about those demons with the homing rocket launchers are the noise they make when they've found you. The yellow demons who use the fire power thing that smacks your health by 50 ish points are the toughest ones to kill with a super shotgun unless you've got a wall or something to hide behind. The other thing that gets me about the Doom series is how boring it can get just engaging the same enemies, and blowing them away; i.e. doing the same thing over, and over, and over again. After a few days, I'd get bored. With KOTOR, you have multiple enemies and can interact with the environment and the people in the environment.

haha MGS3? i beat that game on the hardest difficulty in 15 hours, in one sitting, and i got the rank of FoxHound. That game was good, for about that long, i wouldnt suggest playing it agian.

You're full of it. To get the Foxhound rating you have to play through the game twice with no alerts, no kills, no continues, and < 5 hours. On EXTREME difficulty. No way you did that in 15 hours.

BTW, how does DOOM 3 look on the XBOX? Haven't seen it since my PC plays it fine. Anyone wondering if they should buy it, if you like scary movies, you will love it. If you hate scary movies, stay far far away from this game.

Well, suffice to say, Doom 3 is damn pretty. :D One of the best done graphics on any console, and the best any other console could prossibly hope for. However, during some scenes it gets a little...choppy, and when in pitch black areas, it looks like you're walking on silk. However, the detail in every little bit of every little corner makes this game uber scary and uber great. :D

Whoa, delta, screw Doom 3. Get KOTOR 2. :D Kotor is just...well...great. ^.^ Although, story is not as good as the first, if you did play the first, you'll love the second. :)

And ah yes, the Revenant (the demons with rockets), they're here and they do make odd sounds when they see you. you can shoot their rockets down with certain guns, though. And the demons that shoot fire at you for 50 health are the Arcvile, my most hated of enemies (next to the Pain Elemental). They don't do direct fire anymore, but a long wave of it coming right at you, so you can dodge it, but if you don't...ouch.

Choppy? On the Xbox? That's a first.

The pitch-black parts huh? Well, that's only about half the game. ;)

What's great about the PC version is that if you have 5.1 sound and you come across a mancubus, you hear him just through the sub channel. So you hear him thumping closer to you, but you can't tell from which direction. Really cool effect.

The game sucks, don't play it. For sure get something better like saving your money for Jade Empire (tomorrow) or getting Half-Life 2. There are much better things to do with your money than spend it on a FPS with a ****** story and just gun and run gameplay. This game is just a major dissapointment.

Gun and run gameplay?...Gun and run gameplay?! Did you even play the game?! If you did, you have NO idea what you're talking about, I'm sorry. Jade Empire (i'm sure) and Half-Life 2 are good games, but Doom 3 is great as well.

No, the gameplay is just simple. It is pretty freaky but that is about it. You get scared and shoot. And now that I have played Jade Empire, don't get it. It is okay but nothing compared to the coolness of KOTOR. Get KOTOR II and don't waste your time with a game that is only 20 hours long.
