  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Same here Maybe it's an INFJ thing? hehe

Not sure if my body would be able to handle having kids (of course, does anyone really know if they'd be able to, before they actually try?), but I'd absolutely love to adopt, regardless.

I have no qualm about saying I hate kids ATM. It's Summer, and they're invading all the haunts and parents think it's cute to bring them into coffee shops and tea houses, and order them like, hot chocolate. Sometimes a place is just for double cappucinos and not double strollers (thank you, Samantha Jones.)

I'm sure by the time Fall rolls around I'll go from general despise to casual annoyance and avoidance. When they're not again, invading every place that isn't carded for under 21s.

Anywho, I'm about 90% sure I don't want kids. Then again, maybe I am just one of those people who doesn't like kids and only loves their own. Who knows. Though the way JBNY and NARS Holiday is shaping up, the likelihood I'll want to share my disposable income with annoying ankle-biters in the next decade (forseeably) I'll probably be uninterested in becoming a mother until at least my mid-thirties.

I'm kind of like this. I adore my daughter and love her with everything in me..but other kids..meh, not so much. It's not that I don't love them, in general I love all children, but I really don't want anything to do with most of them. And I'll be honest, it's because most of the time they don't behave the way I expect children to behave, I know that's a reflection of parenting, or lack thereof, but if kids aren't behaving the way I think they should they get on my nerves and test my patience really quickly.

LOL! OMGosh that's almost my very thoughts on the whole thing....personally, I don't plan on having kids, because I work with kids in my job. As far as for getting married, it's not something I'm planning on, but if something works out, that's OK with me I don't think there's ANYTHING wrong with NOT having kids. Not everyone should. And, if someone feels called to raise a 'herd' of kids, I would HIGHLY recommend adopting! There's too many kids in the world who don't have homes and have never been loved. If someone feels that they're a 'have lots of kids' person, they are SORELY needed to adopt a 'herd' of their own, and get busy loving them! I know that would please God very much, sharing His love with those who need it most but there's nothing wrong with not having kids, or even NOT getting married. The apostle Paul talks about that in the Bible. It's not wrong to be married, but it's not wrong to stay single. It's sad how in so many churches 'push' everyone into thinking there's something wrong with them if they stay single, or don't have kids. They make the single people and the childless couples feel like freaks! In truth, there's nothing wrong with being an individual and choosing not to marry or have kids.

Of course they should get a say. Or if you don't give them a say you at least need to tell them BEFORE you get married, so they can decide whether it's a deal-breaker or not.

I agree. Both parties should talk about children BEFORE they get married, and make themselves very clear what they do and don't want. That way, after they're married, there's no problems between them. Sometimes fights over having a family can really ruin people's lives.

Personally, yes, I do that it is not what God had in mind with marriage. I can't think of one God-fearing woman in the Bible who never ever had kids when she was married. I believe that is because they understood God's plan when it comes to marrying. If it is God's will for me to marry, crikey, as many as I can have heathfully would be just a bash!!!! I loooooove kiddos!!!

When the people who tell me this say "future spouse," they're referring to someone I haven't even met yet. I would agree with you if they were already in the picture or whatnot, but telling a single person that someone who comes along later should have a say in my vasectomy choice seems strange to me.

YAY for adoption! My sister wants 10 kids, all adopted. I told her "go for it babe! I support you all the way!"
