Don't Judge Too Quickly

This is something that has happened to me both in real life and online, which I've also seen happen to other people and that I'm sure many of us have dealt with: someone assumes something about you when they don't even know you or your story. That hurts and it's sad to see it happen to others as well.

We Christians shouldn't judge people too quickly, just from a little bit of information or one post. You need to know someone and their story before you can actually know things about them.

Indeed Multi. Some of us get WAY too much exercise jumping to conclusions and racing to judgements.

I do sometimes; and have been on the receiving end more than I care to share.

I totally agree. And it's always useful to remember that there are people from all walks of life, from different faiths or no faith, who read our posts, who may be affected by how we communicate with each other and the words we use.

I try to catch myself, but of course, at other times I do not. Usually, when I find out, it is not a very pleasant experience, but I accept it. I have learned to not trust my 'judgments' that seem to just pop up,......I believe, most rash judgments, have their roots in the past, from experiences from others. Also, I do believe that I am judging myself, though unconscious of the fact, at the time.

It takes time, but grace works through our growth in humility, which is of course 'truth'.

Yes, easily forgotten, we are called to love, and if we need to speak, also speak with compassion and respect.

I remember a homily from a very beloved priest who told us that we are not to judge
As he said

You might ssee the most miserable wretched person imaginable but remember, you do not know his situation, but God Loves that person still.
...............

And that remains true. God IS Love. We must always endeavor to allow the Love of God throough His Spirit to shine through us.
