In life, we often face struggles where situations seem hopeless and the pain feel overwhelming. Struggles so strong that you may right now, feel like giving up. However, there is hope in Christ. Jesus - a perfect God in the form of man - the only person to conquer death - lives in your heart today (if you are a Christian).
Jesus said in John 16:33, "I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." Embrace this fact: We are not alone in our struggles. We can peace on this earth, in spite of all our troubles, because "Christ overcame the world." Ultimate victory over our trials "has already been won"; thus, "we can claim the peace of Christ in the most troublesome times."
Trials may be strong, but the power of Christ in us is stronger than all. We just need the courage to believe it. Philippians 4:13 says "For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength." Everything includes everything, which encompasses the worst of trials.
God gave Paul a thorn in my flesh, in which Paul begged the Lord three times, to take it away. But each time, God said, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness. Paul overcame through the power of Christ, and His dependency upon Christ in spite of his troubles, gives us today direction and hope of the power of Christ of those who believe in Him.
Paul said in 2 Corinthians 4:8: "We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies."
In 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, Paul said "he took pleasure in his weaknesses, and in insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong." Paul overcame because of his reliance on Christ.
David overcame the giant trial called Goliath - all because David's faith remembered how God previously delivered David through trials of "lions and bears". David overcame because he knew it was "God's battle, and not David's alone." David was no superhero. He just had great courage, strengthened by a faith that chose to believe in Christ

David and Paul had the same God back then that we have today, in our trials. We have the same Shepherd who takes care of His sheep, the same Christ, who overcame death, and the same Holy Spirit, who gives perfect joy and peace to those souls He resides in (the Christian). "So be strong and courageous! Do not afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you." (Deut 31:6).
