As long-term members know, we had a Site Supporter system running prior to our crash where members were able to donate to CF to help with the costs of running this site.
As most would be aware, CF is a free service provided by myself as a ministry for Christians worldwide. I do not accept advertising or sponsorship - we are totally independent, and the only financial support are from generous members like yourselves. The costs of running CF is very high - we are running our own dedicated server (a Dual Xeon 2.0Ghz 2Gb RAM with 1 terabyte of bandwidth per month) with commercial software running the forums and the server.There are costs in paying for the hardware, the bandwidth used, the hardware upgrades, the software, the software upgrades, plus occasional payments for professionals to install or setup certain things. There is also the time spent running the site by myself. I am paying for all the costs of running CF by myself, and it is a financial strain. Prior to the crash, donations were helping substantially to offset this costs. All donations go back to the forums. With donations I was able to upgrade our memory from 1Gb to 2Gb which has helped with out speed.
I've restarted the donation system using an annual subscription system via Paypal. Members can donate $10-$50 to become a Site Supporter for 1 year. By being a Site Supporter, you help CF stay online, and remain ad-free and sponsor-free. On top of that, you get a Site Supporter icon in your posts, and you get access to a private Site Supporter forum. You also get 250 PMs instead of the usual 70.
