I'll coach ya'll to be more serious in no time! :p

I get a lot of junk mail everyday in the mail and lots of letters from charities asking for donations. I don't donate to all but maybe two each year. I like the ones that send you self-stick printed address labels of your name and home address. How do you feel about donating to charities and which ones are you more likely to donate to (specifically the ones that come through the mail)? Sometimes it just feels overwhelming that there are so many charities out there that need our support and we just can't donate to all of them. :sigh: Can anyone relate?

I very rarely donate to those charities that solicit directly via mail. I'll only give money to those I know and trust and/or have a solid reputation. Salvation Army, for example. Don't have enough or make enough to contribute to every charity that comes a calling.

Most of my charity giving is to charities I feel some tie to, and for whatever reason. Two examples are the Ethiopian airlift to Israel years ago and the Association for Retarded Citizens.

True, that's a good point. The only charity that I strongly feel towards is American Red Cross. Natural disasters is something that is devastating and heartbreaking for anyone and the victims need support when their lives are turned upside down with life's unexpected tragedies.

St Jude's hospital or Children's hospital. They have telethons to raise money because if you don't have the money you don't have to pay. Both my boys ended up at Children's hospital, nothing to serious, we had insurance that payed but seeing some of those kids in there will make you cry. The ones with cancer and other serious disease's or problems some can't pay either. St Jude's takes in the same kind of kids with cancer and other serious disease's or problems.
