Too late now. Simple Minds owned it. It would be interesting to hear Billy Idol’s rendition of it though.

The song was written for Billy Idol in the mid 80s and he wasn't interested in it. The Simple Minds singer was a big song writer of his. If you listen to some of his various songs like Catch My Fall and Eye's without a Face you can hear a big similarity to it as well as some other songs of his from that era. Anyway since Billy passed on it, the Simple Minds guy decided to use if for his own band and it was an instant hit bigger than probably anything Billy released in his two albums back then, especially with the Breakfast Club movie using it and all.
