  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

i have 4 adopted children, three of them we adopted through social services. it is free to adopt in my state if you are a foster/adoptive parent and go from fostering to adoption. this is a great route to go but with foster care you never know if the child will be up for adoption. we were able to request only young children that are likely to go for adoption and were blessed.

we also have a son who was adopted through a lawyer from a referrel. this is a great way...let all your family and friends know you are interested and you may find somone who is interested in putting a child up for adoption and then you can pursue things on your terms directly with the birth mom. this ended up costing about 3000 dollars for the lawyer. since he was 7 months old before she decided to give him up we did not have any pregnancy expenses which you will have if you find mother who has not given birth yet.

God certainly answered our desires to adopt. prayer is very important as well as remembering to look for the doors he may be opening to you.

we started to pursue a domestic agency adoption and had payed money and gotten all the way through the home study but then were told that since we were in the process of adopting another child they would not match us and we were supposed to go back once our other adoption was done. i think you are smart pursuing a domestic adoption instead ov over seas...it is much cheaper but still expensive.

we were going through bethany christian services...i do not know if they are in your area, they have a website. be prepared to do alot of work and to have an open adoption, where the birth parents can have contact with the child. this will give you the best chance at a match. i do not know your ethicity but if you are willing to adopt a black or mixed race child you can usually be matched very quickly. if you do not mind adopting an older child, there are children waiting for adoption, you could be matched immediatly. good luck on your adoption (s) you will be richly blessed. i posted a coupl links for you

Thanks for answering. I'm familiar with foster/adopt (I used to work in CPS and facilitated some adoptions:)). We are open to this option but because I'm somewhat familiar with it, I feel confident in doing research. I'm not comfortable working with an attorney, I like the idea of a full-service agency and since I'm the one w/ experience, hubby is deferring to me on this. We will be attending an informational meeting with Bethany in February (the next one is too soon) and I am waiting for information from Adoptions from the Heart, though I just further read something on their site I'm not happy with and we may not be eligible to adopt through them. We don't know if we can or can't have kids because I don't think it's necessary to have all that testing done to decide adoption is a viable option and to be a part of their domestic infant program (non-african Am), you have to have gone through that process. We haven't closed any doors as far as international v. domestic; infant v. older child; typically developing v. special needs. We know God will open all the appropriate doors and close all the wrong ones.
