  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Nope, I haven't seen Agnes of God. I did see Bless the Child, though.

Bless the Child--That's the one with Jimmy Smits, isn't it? I can't say that I cared for that movie.

Agnes of God stars Anne Bancroft, Jane Fonda and Meg Tilly. It has to be at least 15-20 years old. I thought it was pretty good.

I remember hearing about Agnes of God, but never got around to seeing it. I might rent it one weekend.

I had heard good things about Bless the Child, and wanted to see it. It had its good points, but I thought it still lacked something. I wouldn't recommend it as a faith promoting movie.

And it certainly was better than Stigmata. Ugh.

Peace be with you,

You guys need to broaden your horizons. Dogma was primarily a propaganda flick, airing the writer's views (Kevin Smith, I believe, wasn't it?); it wasn't very good, however. Agnes of God was also a poor propaganda flick.

You guys all need to go rent Triumph of the Will. Now there's a propaganda flick!!!

Ah, but you should still see Triumph of the Will.

A restored version, without subtitles. It's utterly mind-boggling.

Inherit the Wind is good, too---the sene where Clarence Darrow tells William Jennings Bryan about the rocking-horse he got as a child tells a great deal about his mindset.

And for those of us who are into really intriguing, psychologically challenging, obscure foreign films, there's always Vampyr.

To Crisis:

Dogma didn't necessarily challenge old traditions.

It misrepresented traditions.

It ridiculed traditions.

And it ridiculed and maligned the very people who believe in the traditions.

It did all that in the name of "entertainment."

Peace be with you,
