  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Big swings, big misses: DOGE struggles to back up its outsized claims

Elon Musk and President Donald Trump continue to tout their cost-cutting and fraud-finding efforts, but high-profile claims aren't holding up to scrutiny.

Two of the most notable claims — around Social Security fraud and $8 billion savings found in a Department of Homeland Security contract — have been debunked. Meanwhile, Trump’s agenda is set to add to the federal government’s deficit well in excess of what DOGE is cutting.

Cutting government waste and hunting for fraud are perennially popular topics for politicians across the political spectrum. Federal agencies each have their own internal watchdogs — known as inspectors general — meant to hunt for misuse of taxpayer dollars. More than a dozen of them have been fired by the Trump administration.

In their place, DOGE has worked to make sweeping cuts, most of which appear to be focused more on Trump’s politics than anything else, and many of which experts warn could have unintended consequences.

So there ya go - verbal, written - what next? pictures?
Competent accountants to go over the reality once everything has cleared.

One line item in DOGE’s receipts claimed $8 billion savings found in a Department of Homeland Security contract, when the contract was for $8 million.

do you have an actual list, rather than musk's assistant reading them out loud?
The four minute video is of the President of the United States himself reading the list. It's only 4 minutes if you want to take the time to watch it.

Pardon me for thinking hearing it and reading the actual website that details it would be enough for a discussion. I apologize that clicking on a link to hear or read the actual words was too difficult

How do we know which ones you want to discuss? Even Trump can read (and lie about) many of them in 3-4 minutes.

No, seriously. Zeroing out this program will remove health care from veterans.

VA Crisis Line Employees Among Those Fired Amid Federal Workforce Purge

One hotline worker, whose name was redacted in a widely circulated social media post that has been authenticated by Military.com, said she had worked for the federal government for nine years before going to work at the crisis line.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., said Wednesday that the cuts not only were affecting veterans, who make up one-third of the federal workforce, but services to veterans within the VA.

According to Blumenthal, VA employees are reporting effects that include closures of operating rooms, reductions in the number of available intensive care unit beds, and cuts to inpatient mental health facilities.

In a statement following the layoffs, VA Secretary Doug Collins said the move would save $98 million -- money that would be invested in veteran care.

"This was a tough decision, but ultimately it's the right call to better support the veterans, families, caregivers and survivors the department exists to serve," Collins said.

Trump 'border czar' Tom Homan says billions saved on illegal migrants can be used to help Americans
Money can be used to help homeless veterans and victims of natural disasters, Homan says.
President Trump's 'border czar' Tom Homan says the billions of dollars the country has used to help illegal migrants can instead be used to help Americans, like homeless veterans.
Several American presidents, including some Democrats like Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, have spoken in the past about curbing illegal immigration. Now, President Trump is taking action to make this happen by reinstituting a congressional law prohibiting spending federal dollars on different programs for illegal migrants.
"Clinton and Obama said the right things. They talked the talk, but they didn't walk the walk because the agencies didn't really get into the misuse of these social services and social funding," Homan told "The Story" on Thursday. "President Biden fell off the face of the earth with it. We're in the multi-billions of dollars…."
Homan explained that illegal migrants are incentivized to come to the U.S. while they are reaping more in benefits than most Americans make in their salaries.
"It is a major driver… how many welfare cards, and food stamps, and social services envelopes you see all around these homes. It's been going on for decades."
Homan says there are a lot of ways the money can be used to help American citizens in need, including homeless veterans and the victims of natural disasters.
"Thank God for DOGE because these billions of dollars we're going to save, that illegal aliens shouldn't be getting, can help rebuild North Carolina," he said. "They can help rebuild California where they're devastated by these fires (and) in Kentucky."

The ‘border czar’ also vowed there will be "lots of investigations" on the funding of NGOs and other groups that support the illegal immigration crisis. "There's a lot to uncover, and I thank God DOGE is on top of it," he said.

White House outlines where DOGE savings could go after Trump floats returning 20% to Americans
Trump floated the idea of giving 20% of the DOGE savings to Americans and another 20% to pay down the national debt.

Congress will need to work through the reconciliation process before American taxpayers will see Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) dividend checks, Stephen Miller, the White House deputy chief of staff for policy, said Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, President Donald Trump floated the idea of delivering the savings to taxpayers directly. Trump said 20% savings could be delivered to U.S. citizens in personal checks to taxpaying households, while another 20% would be used to pay down the national debt.

DOGE so far claims to have saved some $55 billion via cuts to USAID, the Department of Education and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Some of DOGE's cost-cutting efforts are under legal challenge, however.

During Wednesday's White House news briefing, Miller broke down how the money could be used.

"We're hearing about these DOGE dividend checks," Fox News' Peter Doocy asked. "That would be 20% back to taxpayers, 20% to pay down the debt, 60% is left. Who gets that?"

"Well, the way that it works is when you achieve savings, you can either return it to the taxpayers, you can return it to our debtors, or it can be cycled into next year's budget," Miller replied.

Of course, that's a bit of a mistake, oops. Much like Pro Politico is a distinct service, so Thomas Reuters Special Services is not the same entity as Reuters although they are both owned by the same parent company.

From Google AI:
Thomson Reuters Special Services (TRSS)
  • Provides custom solutions for clients in the security and commercial sectors
  • Helps clients with insider threat, risk management, and intelligence collection
  • Uses data, experience, and technology to create solutions
  • Provides solutions for network analysis, insider threats, and risk management
  • Helps clients perform intelligence collection and analysis
  • Helps clients understand global sentiment of U.S. and allied operations
Reuters
  • One of the largest news agencies in the world
  • Provides news and data feeds
  • Employs journalists and photojournalists in many locations worldwide
  • Writes in many languages
  • Media companies and financial institutions pay subscription fees for access to its news and data feeds
Reuters news is hardly radical far-left, but just about everything/everyone MAGA disapproves of gets so labelled.

Whether it was Reuters News, or TRSS, it really doesn't matter. What does matter is that 9 million dollars was wasted.

In what way was it wasted? What do you think Thompson Reuters was doing for the DoD, in a contract that was made during the Trump administration?

9 million dollars is far too much money for what looks like it could have been for a good project. Nevertheless, that is still much, much too money to do the following, "The contract was intended to protect the U.S. government from social engineering, which is a form of cyber threat in which people are tricked into divulging sensitive information."

Oh? What is the going price for that type of project for the military? And if it is so much more than it is worth, why did the Trump administration authorize the contract?

Lots of mistakes were made by globalists who were in the first Trump administration. Why do you think 9 million dollars ain't too much money for a simple project like the one we are debating?
