If you're intrigued by wild conspiracy theories on the pagan roots of the papacy, have I got a doozy for you. Many people don't know it but the concept of tying a knot is rich in pagan origins.
Tie a string on your finger to remember something? (Sounds like cord magic to me.) I wonder why sailors put so much skill into the knots they tied over the centuries? Fishermen and fisherwomen, even today, have special words they say when throwing their lines into the water....See the magic in everyday events, like knotting your neck tie... Makes me wonder. This sure looks like a call to a real nasty fight.

They started it. "Knot" is like "Not"; a clear expression of negation, of refusal, of disobedience. God said He would create man in His image, and Satan said "Not!" (or "Knot!"). They are symbolically carrying on Satan's work. It's all very black and white for those who have eyes to see.

The ties and white collar are just different forms of a "yoke" around the neck :D :p

Blue Letter Bible - Lexicon
Strong's Number G2218 matches the Greek ζυγός (zygos), which occurs 6 times in 6 verses in the Greek concordance of the KJV

Acts 15:10 Now then why are ye trying the God, to put a yoke/zugon <2218> upon the neck of the Disciples, which neither the fathers of us neither are we are able to bear?
[Deut 28:48/Matt 23:4/Reve 6:5]

Reve 6:5 And when it up opens up the third seal, I hear the third living one saying "Be coming'! And I saw and Behold! A black horse,
and the one sitting on him having a yoke/zugon <2218> in the hand of him..
[Deut 28:48/Acts 15:10]

If we want to get technical, mine actually wears a podryasnik (подрясник).
What's the difference? Is that just a greek thang?

The inner cassock (more often simply cassock) is an ankle length garment worn by all major and minor clergy, monastics, and often by male seminarians. The Russian version, called a podryasnik (Russian: подрясник), is double-breasted, closely fitted through the torso and flaring out to the skirt,
